I could never with daily smokey eyes.

I also think weight loss comments are highly inappropriate in almost every context. Weight changes can often be brought on by things like illness, medications, eating disorders, mental health struggles, etc. Even the most well intentioned comments about weight perpetuate the idea that smaller is always better. I’m sorry but I think your coworker’s comment was absolutely boneheaded to say aloud no matter how respectful he was about it. It would’ve gone south with me.

Agree, you can’t comment on anyone’s body at work, and really even outside of work. I’m basically okay with my husband or my mom saying they noticed I lost weight because they knew I was trying to, but that’s it. I am a person who was always “tiny,” or “skinny,” and hearing it all my life kind of made it feel like my identity, so it was rough last year when I gained some weight. And yeah, someone could lose weight and it could be because they’re sick or have disordered eating, and commenting on it could not be good. This is not to say it shouldn’t feel good to you if someone compliments what they know is your intentional weight loss, but unless they’re very close to you they shouldn’t be saying it.

I personally like to throw on a minimum of some concealer, mascara, blush, and tinted balm for work. I tend to wear one eye shadow color and a bb cream as well. But plenty of people wear little or none and it’s fine. I’m just… older and easily washed-out looking.

My problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wear just eyeliner and mascara without it transferring onto my eyelids. Maybe my eyes are shaped strangely or something; my eyelids are pretty big. They also tend to get oily if there’s eyeliner on them but no powder/primer/shadow. If I’m REALLY in a hurry, I’ll do primer and then put my face powder all over my eyelids to keep them from getting oily, then do eyeliner and mascara, but even then I tend to get transfer. It’s maddening.

For some reason, in the last six months or so my usually long eyelashes have become strangely short and stubby and angled oddly on my right eye. No amount of curling them has helped. I feel like I need to do some sort of eyelash growth treatment. Boo.

Yeah that happened my eyelashes too! You need to try the Essy Naturals lash serum in the black tube on Amazon. It’s inexpensive for a lash serum and really works.

My boss either doesn’t wear primer or has oily skin and/or rubs her eyes and her liner goes everywhere. Better to wear none than that.

I’ve always dealt with mascara transferring from the tips of my lashes onto my brow bone since I have long lashes. (Went through a brief phase feeling like my lashes were now lackluster but the Essy Naturals serum has helped get them back to their former, mascara-transferring length glory.) I’ve considered doing a lash lift and tint to see if that can replace mascara for me. Eyelash extensions are probably also an option but I think those are quite pricey and sometimes look weird depending on how extreme you go.

Essy Naturals lash serum is ordered and will be here tomorrow!! Thank you! My stylist was trying to get me to buy Rodan + Fields eyelash growth serum but it’s pricey and I read that it caused bad reactions in people, so I was hesitant to drop $100 on it.

I used the Essy then they had some production issues and I stopped using and used something not nearly as good – I finally have a new tube and I’m only about a week or so in, I look forward to when my lashes hit my glasses again…

As for ever lasting eye makeup – Try Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. I have super greasy skin and this stuff kept my eye makeup perfect through international flights (ex. New York to Japan, New York to China, etc). and my eye make up was on point after waking up.

The M.Gemi shoes arrived and while they are a very nice shoe, will likely be going back. They have no support (expected), but my custom insoles don’t super well with them. So that’s pretty disappointing. I’m going to wear them around the house a bit while I decide. Also debating seeing if a size swap would help.

Milani eye primer in a light grey tube is great too and cheap.

Also just pulled the trigger on my next vitamin C serum and have decided that Glossier will be my pick to click this time. It’s an inactive form of vitamin C — the most stable variety! — and a better choice for people with sensitive skin (on account of poorer absorption). Also supposed to be the best type of vitamin C for anyone with pigmentation issues and who wants brightening. Will report back! It’s sold at a lower to middle-of-the-road price point. Maybe finally picking a type of vitamin C based on my actual skin type and concerns will finally lead me to my holy grail product. Who knows!
