ParticipantThis is what the votespa.com/aclu voting guide says for that-
“The last day to vote a mail-in ballot in-person is Oct 27.”
I actually think me going to vote in person is the way to go right now. I’ve never had a problem getting a ballot before. I applied, asked for another when it never came, and asked again. It’s crazy.

GuestMy understanding is that October 27 is the deadline for applying for a mail in ballot so the single visit apply/receive /vote is no longer available. But if you have previously applied you can still show up and get a replacement ballot and fill it out. See bottom of the article.

GuestThree more days till I am free from this blasted quarantine. I feel great, so this was probably all a false alarm. So far, nobody from the shoot has tested positive —- other than the fool who originally unwittingly exposed us.
So BRAVO to wearing masks! They DO work!
I will drive thru test again on Saturday and then will know for sure. FYI — here in LA my drive through results came in at 5:26 am. Less than 24 hours after my noon appt the day before. So yeah. FAST. They had said it could take up to three days. So I was pleasantly surprised.

ParticipantI invited my dad and his wife for Thanksgiving. I feel it’s fairly safe as they live out in the middle of nowhere working on their house mostly just getting stuff for their house and groceries. And they are taking it seriously so I feel good about it and I am excited to see some other real live humans for THanksgiving!
I do worry about my mom and grandmother – they live together. They are both smokers (lifelong) and my grandmother has COPD (we almost lost her last Xmas). And they let a family member visit them regularly who works at a casino! And my MIL and BIL are both flying to Vegas to go to casinos. I know people are taking their own calculated risks…but casinos – really?!?!

ParticipantAlso – has anyone downloaded the app that tells you if you are near a person who tested positive? I was thinking about getting it but I’m thinking it might be overwhelming. Like, I’ll be in the grocery store and I’ll get a notification of a positive person nearby and I’m not sure how I would react. Leave the store, leave the area. Maybe I’m better off now knowing.

ParticipantI’m just going to vote in person. It’s close by and I feel more confident it will be counted. I tracked my third ballot on votespa.com and it’s “pending” being mailed today. I requested it like, a week and a half ago. This is after the two previous never arrived.

Guest@Rangerchic I live in Virginia and have had the Covid app that the state developed for about two months now, I think. I haven’t received any notifications but I also learned that only 1/5 of the population of the state have downloaded it and the app relies on people self-reporting if they are positive. So yeah, unless the app you are using has enough people active and reporting then it works, otherwise, it just takes up space on your phone.

ParticipantThanks @Bethany. I was curious how many people are going to use it. For now, I think I’ll pass.
