@BGM – that’s great.
For those who may be hearing news about all of the major pharmacies getting involved in vaccinations – that’s a sign of two things:
1. Those in charge of the overall COVID response are actually y’know planning and preparing instead of wingin’ it.
2. The AZ vaccine will be approved and shipped out within the next 5 weeks or so. Knowing AZ, they have already started moving product to central sites so once approval in US goes through, they can get it on cold storage trucks and out to your local Walgreens within a day or two.
Also if anyone is worried, like really anxious to get the vaccine now- you can see about getting on your local vaccination site’s waiting list where they’ll call you if they’ve “uncorked” more shots than they can use before they expire. Some places don’t have waiting lists but if you call around 4 pm, they can tell you if they can hook you up right then.
Our province is opening back up. Our daily case numbers are about 950 cases a day which is great. I know small businesses are struggling. But I am nervous about the variant and a third wave in April. Also Canada’s vaccination rate is pitiful. We are SO close.
Are you all wearing surgical masks now?
I switched over to KN95 masks (was previously using homemade) maybe two or three months ago. I’ve noticed more people double masking here.
We just got another foot or so of snow on top of the foot or so of snow we already had. We haven’t seen temps over, IDK, 25 degrees in a couple weeks. I’m so bored of this shit. I’m so close to booking airfare somewhere warm.
I’ve been using KN95 masks ordered from Amazon that are on that FDA approved list. But who knows.
I have kept up my running resolution. Charley and I have run between 3 and 4 miles a day four or five days a week ever since january 1.
Whew. Getting easier.
I still honestly have no idea when I’ll be eligible to get the blasted vaccines.
Been working on a tv pitch. We’ll see where it all leads.
I may qualify for vaccine in NYC but I’d have to go back to the nonsense that is winter in NYC. For the time being, I’m staying in Florida. That said, now that my mom and all of her friends are vaccinated, I know that she’s limiting her activities in order to protect me. However, I think she’s also hiding behind that a bit to force her to be more responsible and socially distant. There may be a little “I’m more responsible than you because I have to be…” in there.
I have masks that are like four layers of fabric and you can put a filter in a pocket – so that’s my go-to for the bi-monthly trip to the super-duper market.
I think that we have one or two people in MA. They are opening up slots for people 65-74 or with multiple comorbidities starting Thursday. It looks like right now slots are open though I don’t know if it’s possible to schedule now for people in the expanded categories.

Awesome! My parents live in one of those towns where it looks like MA now has a location (it wasn’t on this website before). I know they’ve been keeping on top of when ppl under 75 can start getting it, but I sent them these links just in case.
Man the US is going gang busters on vaccinating. Weve been in full lockdown since November in Toronto – schools just opened today (though the schools didn’t shut until Christmas break) and were nowhere near getting a vaccine for a few more months. They’re saying the over 80s are expected for end of March. Canada always seems to get the worst of all worlds- full lockdown in large provinces like ontario and quebec, still lots of cases, poor contact tracing (they declared in November they just wouldn’t contact trace anymore) also no vaccines. We pay so much in tax for this huge public infrastructure that’s just turned out to be a joke. No preparation for second wave nothing. Just massive government fiddling around but no one knows what theyre doing. I got COVID and literally called three times by public health asking if someone had already told me I had COVID – they don’t have notes apparently. We just can’t seem to get it together. There’s literally no positive except that “we have less cases per capita than the US”. that’s all that matters – never mind that we have spent way more money and been shut down for way longer- of course we should have less cases.
It has been really nice seeing the older people in my daily congregation get vaccinated and know that there is a concrete end in site. This winter has been so depressing that I have kind of kept my eyes on May as kind of an inflection point where i could be vaccinated and have guests over on my roofdeck.
I hear you Cookie!! Our numbers are great—- as in they are the same as in November before we peaked. I hope people don’t let their guard down. I don’t know what’s going on with the vaccinations but it’s so frustrating hearing about the delays. I hope September is still accurate.
I’m glad my parents have been vaccinated. (My dad is done, my mom has one shot to go.) My mom was trying to help some longtime family friends get the vaccine using the same instructions I followed with success to get hers set up, only to find out that their area seems to be out. So.
Here, I should be eligible in our next phase, Phase 1(c). But then I read an article saying that my city was eyeing next month to move into the next phase, but with shortages, delays are very likely. SO.
This winter has been REALLY depressing with the isolation, the cold weather, the snowstorm after snowstorm making the daily outdoor movement I looked forward to pretty tough. I know I’m not alone in this, but I’m struggling. I no longer want to participate in Zoom events with friends/fam, and in any case have noticed that we’re not scheduling as many so I think I’m not the only one out of patience for it. I’ve been invited to another virtual baby shower in a couple weekends and if it weren’t for family, I’d politely decline.
