My oldest daughter took an at home test and it came back positive. She was also symptomatic. Then, 4 days later went to take a test at the drive-thru sight and it came back negative – while very symptomatic (running fever, headache, loss of smell/taste, sore throat). We know she has it so it was surprising that the better test came back negative. But she is finally feeling better though still pretty fatigued. My youngest is feeling almost back to 100 percent normal.

My MIL is in the ICU with heart complications. The hospital is short staffed. They kept putting off tests that she needs. It’s so frustrating. I just want to scream at all the “non-believers” and people who still think its NBD – I kind of hope they need an emergency service they can’t get because COVID is taking over the hospitals.

I’d like to do some purging…maybe this weekend if we don’t have to take a trip back home to see my MIL.

Ranger chic, we’re going through the same thing with my mother, in the hospital since Monday (foot infection, not covid), and they’re so short-staffed that her care is really compromised. It’s so nerve wracking! I hope your MIL gets better quickly!

I may have finally succumbed to Covid. Or a cold. Or flu. I took a rapid that came back negative but we know that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

I’m going on day three of a horrible sore throat. That’s the only symptom, but it feels like it’s on fire. For three days.

I’m going to send my doctor a note first thing tomorrow and see what she says. She’s good at getting back within a couple of hours.

The husband and I haven’t been around anyone with symptoms or known Covid. We actually haven’t done anything since the holidays besides grocery stores or what not and we still wear a mask everywhere. So I dunno.

That sore throat sounds like omicron, and if I were you I’d definitely want to know, so I hope you can get a pcr test.

Agree with Kate – the very sore throat is the telltale omicron symptom. Hope you can get clarity quickly!

@Ktfran from what I’ve read people with the severe omicron sore throats have gotten relief from the chloroseptic numbing sprays and drops. I’ve heard that if you can get a lydocane prescription from your PCP that it helps a lot. I hope that you feel better soon.

I was supposed to be in teh office today for an interview we have on Tuesday. Clients are starting to do in person interviews again. We have two this week. WTF? Luckily, some colleagues are covering for me.

Why is anyone doing anything in person right now that could be done on Zoom?

Speaking of zoom, I’m in the second of THREE 3-hour trainings on “Leading Through Connection,” and this one is a Brene Brown-fueled fever dream about Empathy and Story culture cues.

Telehealth scheduled in a few minutes already. I love my PCP!! This is the exact reason I wanted one and visit her every year for my check up.

    Good luck @kate. I’d def be multi-tasking.

Good luck, @ktfran. Sorry you’re feeling lousy for any reason and hope you recover swiftly.

In a meeting this morning, my boss mentioned that his wife, who is a photographer at the local hospital in his area, is currently swabbing noses because they have so many people out sick right now that it’s all hands on deck regardless of your actual job. Yikes.

Alright, so for anyone who has traveled recently, how did you decide whether or not to go? The boyfriend and I planned a trip to Mexico last year when we were feeling more optimistic. Now I’m unsure. We picked a more under-the-radar destination (still caters to tourists, but it’s a quieter destination/nothing like the popular coastal areas that basically exist for tourists). I’ve been checking the U.S. embassy’s website and Mexico’s official COVID numbers, but I just don’t know. It’s not for another month so for now I’m just keeping an eye on things… we’ve barely ventured farther than a couple hours from where we live for the past two years, with the exception of, like, a camping trip and going to my grandma’s funeral on the west coast so I am feeling unsure.

For international travel, I’d be concerned about getting sick but more concerned about getting stuck in a foreign country for weeks due to quarantine issues.
