Oh no, Wendy. Sorry to hear this. My 69-year old father tested positive Friday and has been taking paxlovid, and he’s done really well. I also took it when I tested positive due to underlying conditions and it did help with the symptoms, although I had super rare side effect and had to quit taking it early, which complicated things.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Ugh. Hope you guys are feeling better soon, @Wendy. And that none of you end up with long-lasting symptoms.

Air travel looks so nightmarish right now based on what I’m seeing on the news (even before factoring inclement weather). We’ve stayed within driving distance so far this summer, but have flights booked to see my family on the west coast in September. Hoping things improve by then.

We had to “home alone” it through Miami on Monday. As we were approaching our gate, we heard our names come on the speaker and if we weren’t there within two minutes, our seats would have gone to standby people. Talk about stressful!!

The entire travel day Monday was stressful. In Ecuador, they did random screening at the gate. I was flagged. Had to take off shoes, open my bag, they swiped everything. Then the Miami debacle…. we both have Global Entry, but the husband was flagged because his name was similar to another passenger. He was escorted to a separate room. I had already made it through and the security guard told me to keep moving. I didn’t know what was happening. They finally let the husband call me. After we collected our bags, we had to go back through security to board our Miami to Chicago flight. It was a MESS. People were trying to butt in front of others because they were afraid to miss their flight. We’re all like NO, we’re going to miss our flight too. I’m sorry, but deal. And then when we got to security, there was a shift change so they stopped running the baggage conveyor. Like I said, we missed our flight by two minutes.

So happy I took off work yesterday to recover.

My sister got caught in that nightmare at Heathrow last week. They managed to get to their destination by going through Rome. Now they are stuck and may have trouble getting home. They’re totally fine with that, they’ll just extend their vacation!

My 80+ great aunt has now gotten COVID twice, once pre and once post vaccination. Mostly because her kids and grandkids refuse to protect themselves in order to protect her. It’s infuriating.

Akk! So you guys did actually miss your flight then? That stinks. But glad you guys made it home and I hope you had an incredible trip!

I can’t recall the last time I’ve missed a flight, if ever, but I did get delayed something like 8 hours in Atlanta when I was traveling with my mom and sister in April. The people watching was fairly entertaining and I kept having moments of feeling like, “Wow. This is AMERICA in here.” LOL.

I think I saw footage of an airport in I wanna say Hawaii where people were waiting in a TSA line so long, it took two hours just to get inside the building/out of the sun. And the baggage situation at some airports looks absurd. (ETA: I believe the footage I saw on the news of luggage on luggage on luggage was Heathrow, now that @LisforLeslie mentions it.)

We made it. With two minutes to spare. Phew!

We were stuck in Newark last Nov for 8ish hours due to delays/weather/flight attendants timing out. That was coming home from Ireland.

The people watching in airports is definitely amazing.

I’m glad your sister is ok with the delay @List, but sorry to hear about your grandma.

My mum and her partner both currently have the flu and covid. Even with vaccines (though my mum didn’t get the flu shot which she’s regretting now) they’re both really sick. It just feels like it’s exploding again everywhere. Hopefully everyone is on the mend soon.

Thanks, everyone! Drew got Paxlovid and it’s helping a lot. I’m not on any meds but am feeling better today. Still a strong positive line on the rapid test I took this morning. Jackson’s positive line is a lot lighter today. My dad, whom I haven’t seen since April, tested positive yesterday too. He started anti-virals right away and they seem to be working well. My mom was negative on a rapid but getting a PCR this morning. We’re supposed to visit them in 13 days, so the timing here is pretty good – I won’t have to worry about bringing covid to them as I was starting to get concerned about, and hopefully everyone will be all better by the time we fly out.

Hope you all feel better Wendy! I haven’t heard too many asymptomatic positive antigen tests so I guess it is good it was caught.

Decided to get my fourth shot on Saturday. Figured by the time the next vaccine gets approved I’ll be due for my next one.

Does the boldness/faintness of the line on the test indicate anything? I’ve not heard this before.

I can take this question over to the dating thread if it’s not appropriate here since that seems to be more of an anything goes thread these days, but has anyone tried those Halara dresses I keep seeing in my targeted ads?

The husband only took rapid tests when he had Covid in May. The first day he tested, it was a faint line. The next day, it was a full blown, yes he definitely has Covid line.

I’m not sure if it means anything about how contagious you are?

When I had it in January, my doctor told me that I could test + for several months, but not actually still have it and/or be contagious.

    So, I dunno?
