Ooh, MoMA is my fave and right in midtown. The Met and the Whitney are always great. And I always enjoy the museum or art and design, followed by a walk in Central Park.
Brooklyn has the Brooklyn Museum (in my neighborhood) that people love. Not sure it’s worth a commute though if you won’t be nearby already or the current exhibits don’t interest you.September 27, 2022 at 12:05 pm #1116220Dear WendyKeymaster
The Whitney biennial is happening through October 16 – that might be fun to check out.September 27, 2022 at 12:34 pm #1116221ktfranParticipant
Thanks! I was thinking MOMA originally, so that might be the one. I’ll look up The Whitney too.
It’s silly, but I also want to go into Sezane since NYC has one of two in the U.S.

I second for the MOMA in midtown(East Side) or Art & Design (west side). Weather permitting you can always go to the Central Park Zoo.
My favorite museum is uptown, the Cooper Hewitt. It’s dedicated to design and is in a former mansion. Also, if you’re in lower mid-town – the Pierpont Morgan is GORGEOUS and stunning and hard to believe it was owned by a person.
The last two are comparatively small and are easy to walk through in a couple of hours.
There is also a Met satellite in the old Whitney space on 5th & Madison.September 27, 2022 at 12:37 pm #1116224LisforLeslieGuest

Day 4. Starting to feel better. It really is like a flu, which is not fun, fuck everyone who said “it’s just a flu”!! Still sore throat. Ran through gamut of muscle soreness and fatigue. Now congestion.
Also in terms of flats, I’ve been wearing Dr Liza — https://www.drlizashoes.com/collections/dr-liza-shoes/dr-liza-flat?sort_by=manual
She’s Canadian. Pretty comfortable. I also have her heels. Sizing is weird. I think size down. She has periodic 50 percent off sales.September 29, 2022 at 9:05 am #1116249AnonymousseGuest
My daughter had the respiratory thing that’s hit the kids. And also recently a stomach thing. She’s okay today but I’m scared about the Petri dish of weird viruses and symptoms hitting the children these days. Not cool.
Also, the poor little sweet thing (my six year old daughter) got punched in the face by a fellow first grade boy. Her teacher emailed me that she did nothing to provoke it and the boy is in trouble. She’s totally fine.
I’m not trying to overdramatize, but I feel so bad for her. I’m trying not to make it a thing and ask her too much but I can remember childhood crap like that and it destroyed me. A boy punched me in the stomach once, and even though I grew up in a tiny town, I still hate the kid. Thirty+ years later.
I love those birdies, Wendy. I used to have a pair of gold ballet flats the first time they were cool. I was 19 and I loved having gold shoes so much. Time is wild.September 29, 2022 at 9:46 am #1116251ktfranParticipant
I’m so sorry your to hear about your daughter @anonymousse! Both of my nieces have been bullied at one time or another. The 13 year old still is (she was even once bullied by a teacher, who basically told her and my sister that if she weren’t weird, kids wouldn’t bully her). Granted, she is a bit quirky. That was at a Catholic grade school. My sister pulled her and now she’s in Public. Both are in therapy. It’s effing gut wrenching.
The husband had the stomach thing going around. Yesterday was the first day he felt fully better (after about 10 days from on-set). The first three days, he didn’t eat and pooped like every 40 minutes. He had 1,400 steps one day from just walking to and from the bathroom. Insane!! Gatorade basically saved him from being admitted. He was able to sip it.September 29, 2022 at 9:51 am #1116252AnonymousseGuest
It’s weird, and I’m not sure it’s bullying. The boy is a friend of hers. She’s so sweet and nice to everyone, too. I think she saw him doing something he wasn’t supposed to and it was a threat that backfired.
The irony thing is his parents often give me unsolicited parenting advice. I’m still like, how does a six year know how to? My kids hit each other and stuff but they don’t punch each other in the face.September 29, 2022 at 10:30 am #1116253KateKeymaster
Wtf, how are boys thinking it’s ok to punch girls????September 29, 2022 at 11:35 am #1116255AnonymousseGuest
Thanks ktfran and Kate. I’m shocked, and also I know I shouldn’t be, but seriously, WTF. She weighs 40 lbs and is 6. She’s so little. 😭September 29, 2022 at 11:48 am #1116257KateKeymaster
I know this is going to sound like the child-free asshole blaming the parents, but, like you said, that’s really weird and concerning that the kid goes right to punching his friend in the fucking face when he’s upset. Like where does that even come from. I’m not at all saying they raised him to think it’s okay to punch a girl, but SOMETHING is going on there to make him act out like that in anger. Something was definitely going on in my house as a kid that made me occasionally haul off and hit someone.
