GuestI agree. I don’t see why conversations even need to be brought up. It makes me think of the woman saying “do you think she’s pretty?” Constantly. There is no right answer so he says no to keep the peace, she still knows he meant yes. Some things don’t need to be discussed really.
Bittergaymark
GuestI’m with Janelle.

More, I fail to see the contradiction. Look, I’ve had my share of hot gogo boys grind up against me and — truth? Eh. It is kinda skeezy behavior. It’s not something I am loud and proud of. Sure, I don’t demonize the strippers, but I also don’t take them very seriously either.
.
And if (somehow) I dated some sex shaming prude, I don’t know why I would ever feel the need confess my long ago gogo boy sins.
.
Newsflash. The odds of some stripper banging your bf is significantly LOWER than some random drunk bachelorette partier in town from Akron, Ohio. No. Seriously. SO MUCH LOWER.
.
The popular hang up so many have over stripclubs and porn is simply something I shall never understand. So much needless drama.Kate
KeymasterIs it body insecurity? Otherwise, yeah, I don’t get the stripper issues.
BUT I don’t like how your boyfriend acted, pretending to be all, “gross!” He should have just owned it. I would worry he’d lie about anything else as well.
Bittergaymark
GuestOr he was parroting back what she CLEARLY wanted him to say. Girls, girls.,Picture it. Sicily, 1937. A young, beautiful Italian girl sits at a bar drinking her chianti. Talking to her young latin lover about her poor best friend’s relationship woes.
.
“And then she found out he went to a stripclub! Gross! Can you imagine ANYTHING grosser?!”
.
“Than a stripbar? Um, no. GOD, NO.”
.
“I told her, she better Dump hid ass!”

Girls. That woman, was me. Sophia Patrillo. And that man… was JULIO IGLESIAS…Northern Star
GuestNobody likes a yes man, who says what he thinks you want to hear instead of the truth.
Bittergaymark
GuestReally? Honestly? I disagree. If more men simply did that this place would have A LOT less letters. So much here (and everywhere) is needy, fragile, insecure people freaking the flip out because they somehow cannot handle even the simplest of truths…
Northern Star
Guest*shrug* Frees up a man from being with a “needy, fragile, insecure” girlfriend if he’s honest, though, right?
Bittergaymark
GuestEh. Men are guilty of this, too. Though perhaps less so. But I do find it hilarious that SO many SO insist on demanding answers to silly irrelevant questions when, somehow, they so can’t ever even vaguely handle the answers…
Janelle
GuestDon’t ask questions you don’t want answers to. My motto.
Bittergaymark
Guest^^ Exactly. And I may be wrong here. But in MY experience women seem to do this far more than men…
.
“Does this dress make me look fat?” “Is the-most-beautiful-actress-on-the-planet really THAY attractive?” “Have you ever been to a stripclub?” “Do you watch porn?” “Is my best friend hot?” “Have you EVER fantasized about anybody else?”
.
Men have other equally silly issues.Northern Star
Guest“Don’t ask questions” is a great motto unless you’re serious enough about a person to consider marrying them (this LW). Then, questions are helpful for understanding if you want to spend your entire life with someone.
Yes men and people who lie because it’s easier don’t inspire much confidence. My motto.
Bittergaymark
GuestI think Janelle’s point is that MANY of these questions are simply ones that nobody NEEDS answers to… I’d say that about all of my examples.
.
Some questions SHOULD be asked. Like, say… would you ever cheat on me? Have you done so to previous parters in the past?
.
Have you ever been to a strip club? Eh, not so much. That’s a question that needs not be asked. Same about porn. -
