Yeah, like Wendy said, just cut out that hour of lounging. Hang out in the kitchen and talk while you make dinner (I prep veggies and stuff and my husband cooks). Then take a walk. We have to go out and walk the dog after dinner and it’s nice. We see bunnies and this whack turkey family, and people’s gardens, and other dogs. Sometimes we’ll go out for a drink. Then I’ll read for a bit and he’ll watch a show on his iPad.
We go to bed early, get up early, separately do our workouts in the morning.July 18, 2019 at 9:27 pm #848402
Seconding Kate’s advice to do “official” exercise in the morning. And everyone’s advice to cook something healthy together at night. Also, if your life will allow it, get a dog. Walk it every night together for 30 minutes, at least. Play with it when you’re done with dinner. Hell, even taking it to the dog park for half an hour gets you off the couch and doing something new. You’d be surprised how much less time you waste in front of the TV.July 18, 2019 at 10:14 pm #848403
I guess I don’t understand why you’re trying to overhaul both his and your routines. I get it, you’re engaged and want to hang out together (though calling yourself a Confused Bride seems a very negative label), but you don’t have to be lockstep.
You come home one night ready to go for a walk, but he wants to lounge on the couch. Now you’re not going to go for the walk?!? It’s hard enough to motivate yourself; don’t make your momentum contingent on his behavior. Decide for yourself how you want your day to be, and do that. There’s no secret formula.July 19, 2019 at 11:51 am #848437
I know how hard habits can be to break, so I recommend starting with something easy like going for a walk together after dinner. This helps with digestion and getting natural light will help with your sleep patterns.July 19, 2019 at 12:13 pm #848438
Also, idk how you usually meal prep, but I reaaaLlly like HelloFresh. The meals are very tasty, and everything’s all perfectly measured in the bag for each meal. Makes it super easy to cook together. You can work in harmony, both looking at the recipe card to see where you are and what to do next.
