So “chav” is being used to describe the poorer, stupider kids who are overly focused on fashion and fitting in?
It doesn’t matter. Anonymousse is right; it’s just the thrill of the spectacle. Anyone who does anything on social media can have it twisted around and used to embarrass them.
In a week, nobody will care enough to bring it up unless they are insecure and want to laugh at someone to feel momentarily better about themselves. I don’t think you need to stop making videos, but maybe just keep them offline for now.
Gaining temporary notoriety can be embarrassing but you’ll survive and soon the awful lunch period will be but a distant memory. Sorry, though. Kids are mean, sometimes.January 9, 2019 at 1:47 pm #815026
Could you kind of laugh it off and be like “Oh I’m working on a new one -to be released soon!” and then just do whatever it is you want to do (or not do). Basically, it’s hard for bullies to make you feel ridiculous if you’re like “Yup, I’m a goofball! That’s how I roll!”
Or you can demand that they give you a silly voice to hear your silly voice – a tit for tat kind of thing.
I don’t know – I hate being embarrassed but I also know that not much embarrasses me anymore because I’m old and too tired to care.January 9, 2019 at 3:28 pm #815039
Nah chavs in England are usually middle class who like to act like they are hard men even though they aren’t at all. Like I can’t really explain it unless you too are in Britain because using language like that is used in everyday life and trust me that is one of the most tame words I can use.
Everyone has been really nice and have made me feel better thoJanuary 9, 2019 at 8:38 pm #815084
Oh my god you guys seriously, chav is no different from calling someone a bogan or redneck or any other term like that and it’s because the person is acting in a mean and anti social manner. Sometimes it’s embarrassing how america-centric you all are, other countries have their terms and if you don’t understand the context they’re used in don’t give the user from the country where it’s used a hard time about it.
Anyway OP it’s a shame you didn’t laugh it off at the time as I think you could have come out of it unscathed, hopefully you can turn it around a little now and wait for the next drama to come along.January 9, 2019 at 8:45 pm #815085
It’s actually helpful context to picture what kinds of kids were teasing her… were they a brain, a basket case, an athlete, a princess, a criminal…January 9, 2019 at 8:50 pm #815086
Right so ask for the explanation instead of assuming what the meaning or intent is and giving her a hard time.January 9, 2019 at 8:50 pm #815087
And hope none of them put a knife in their locker or it’s Saturday detention for everyoneJanuary 9, 2019 at 8:52 pm #815088
And then you’d find out that you’re all a chav, and everyone would get along.January 9, 2019 at 8:56 pm #815091
*ahem* I’d be a bogan, due to local cultural differences.January 9, 2019 at 8:58 pm #815092
Is that more like bumpkin or basic bitch? I looked it up but without context it’s difficult!January 9, 2019 at 8:59 pm #815093
Oh wait, it’s more like trailer trash?January 9, 2019 at 9:01 pm #815094
I’d be a skank.
