This sounds like a scam. Everything about this therapist sounds like a con artist.

This sounds like a total scam, but a possibly low-stakes way to investigate this is to reach out to a blood relative of your mom’s who you trust to keep it private (like one of your mom’s cousins maybe) and ask them to take a DNA test with you. Or hell, maybe they just know the family history and you can talk it out with them. If you’re not related to the cousin, then maybe there’s something to this strange story. But this way you aren’t involving the shady-sounding therapist OR your mom and can decide how to proceed from there.

    What?!

This ‘Therapist’ has way overstepped his/her boundaries & should be reported!
