I think NuPru is hilariously out of touch and his advice is generally terrible (Mallory is now Daniel for those who weren’t in the loop) but apparently he’s from a very privileged family so that might explain some of it if it’s true (not excusing it at all mind you). To be fair, however, old prudie wasn’t much better. Remember her stellar column about college girls being responsible for their own rapes if they insisted on going out and getting so drunk? Yeah no time for that ish.

I like reading NuPru (among others) to my partner as if it were the script from a soapie – long dramatic pauses etc. One of our favourite pastimes. (Are we weird? We’re probably weird.) Obviously I should also be reading Dr Nerdlove – that letter was tailor made for us!

I couldn’t stand old Prudie’s cringe-worthy puns and play on words. Sometimes she’d stuff a response so full of bad jokes that there was barely any actual advice. Really, the only reason I like that column is because of how many letters get released at once.

Advice columns are my guilty pleasure (more for the letters more than the responses). I like Amy Dickinson’s advice a lot, but I also read Dear Ellie, Dear Carolyn, Dear Annie, and Dear Abby, even though she’s woefully behind the times. Will be starting Ask A Manager! If anyone knows of others, please share.

Ya Dear Abby is becoming difficult to read lately. Her comments on the 6 figure wedding got torn apart in the comments today. I start to wonder if she is getting a bit too old to be writing…although I liked her grandmother and mother, really have never been such a fan of current Abby, which is original Abby’s granddaughter I believe?

In general i liked Prudence, plus she posted exactly when she scheduled. This new chick….guy…I can’t remember which they changed to, is always late. I read some of that column BGM posted but it pretty much disgusted me and I am the least prudish person I know. Just the mentality of LW’s in general, not the content.

Carolyn Haxx can grate on me so I tend to go poke in now and then, plus I am not paying for her subscription so I can only read a couple a month before it kicks me out.

Oh I also read Ask Amy. https://www.denverpost.com/ask-amy/

Yes, that’s Amy Dickinson. Her advice is great.

Oh ya, duh Janelle. My new heart medicine is making me a ditz. Too loopy. Keep missing obvious things. Cannot wait to change meds after the new year.
