you are obviously such a kind caring pet person. It will get easier. Your new puppy is so so lucky to have a person like you! I hope you feel better with time, it takes so long sometimes, but eventually this raw stage of grief will lessen XXX

I’m so glad you are doing better. I just wanted to say I understand. My beloved dog who I have had 17 years just died on Monday and I’m so sad right now. I miss her so much. She was a good friend and so loving. You gave your sweet dog a great and happy life and you loved her…that’s the best life for a dog.

    Thank you all again.
The change after I first wrote in and all your responses has been huge.
I won´t say the sadness is completely gone, but pretty much 🙂
Many smiles and no tears whenever I think about Nami.

You helped me change my perspective and it was a world of difference.
Things with the new puppy are going great. She´s really cute and funny, and I´m enjoying her very much now. She makes me laugh and is very cuddley (is that a word? sorry if it isn´t… but you know what I mean).

@CET : I´m so sorry for your loss, I really feel you. Can´t think of better words than your own : “You gave your sweet dog a great and happy life and you loved her…that’s the best life for a dog”. It´s so true! Don´t let that knowledge get away from you.

I’m so glad you’re feeling better! I totally understand this feeling. We lost our kitty about a year and a half ago (I actually posted about it on the forums here, because I know there are so many animal lovers in this community who would get it.) We got a new cat about 6mo later and my daughter was instantly obsessed with her. My husband and I…not so much. It actually really didn’t help that our new cat looks a lot like the old one! We realized that we probably weren’t really ready yet for a new kitty- and we probably would have “shopped around” at other shelters if our kid hadn’t insisted on this particular cat. I am happy to say that it’s much better now, though our new kitty still doesn’t favorably compare, haha. She had big paws to fill, poor thing. She puts up with a lot from my 5yo, though, which earns props from me!

@CET, I’m really sorry for your loss. Even when we get so many happy years, it’s so hard to say goodbye. Hope you are doing okay!
