I’m not someone who spends most of her time in meetings, so I’m not on Zoom as much as some friends or family, and I still have Zoom fatigue.
I can do just about everything I need to do from home, but still would choose to go into the office a couple days/week if given a choice. I like the change of scenery, building IRL relationships, and the separation of work and home. I have a nice office of my own at work, which may make a difference in my comfort levels at the office, whereas here I have my setup in the only free corner we had to put it — in between the bed and bathroom. I opted for a fold-out desk so that I can at least put my work clutter away, but I find the setup/take down annoying. If we had more space where I could have a true home office, I’d maybe feel differently, but I think I’ll always like the change of scenery and separation of work and home at least a couple days/week.October 28, 2021 at 10:44 am #1099533LisforLeslieGuest
Most of my meetings have video capability but very few people will join with video, I’d say 10% of my meetings need me on video – so that’s nice. It’s pretty much teleconferences but through my computer but I like that Teams enables me to take it from my phone if I need to run an errand a lot more easily than zoom does. Zoom on the phone sucks.
I get the constant Teams pings. I have two instances of Teams right now, one is via a virtual desktop so I get pings from both through the day.
@Kate – if I can’t deal with the pinging – I put my DND on or I just respond “Not a good time, dealing with something. Is this urgent?” 90% of the time, it’s not.October 28, 2021 at 10:51 am #1099534KateKeymaster
I get the double pings too!!!
I *can* just ignore them but then I’ll have to deal with them later, and I’m like, why can’t this be an email? Then I can keep it in my inbox until it’s done, and after that I’ll delete or file. So hard to keep up with all these different Teams threads.November 1, 2021 at 7:26 am #1099617NookieGuest
Hallo from the past y’all! I stumbled back into DW about a week ago and asked for a password reset, but it hasn’t come through?
Anyways, the LW sucks. Just because their preference is office working, doesn’t mean it works for everyone else and I’m 100% glad that a lot of companies can see the benefits of home working for their staff now. There are negatives, as Kate said about constant meetings that I barely pay attention to, but the morale for a lot of us has gone up.
I’m doing a hybrid thing; my contract has been changed to 2 days in the office but no one’s enforcing that yet, with numbers going up here in the UK. Currently I’m going in 1-2 per week and it’s nice to see some different walls and catch up with people informally. Plus I concentrate more in the office? Less distractions.November 1, 2021 at 1:07 pm #1099632FyodorGuestNovember 1, 2021 at 1:13 pm #1099633MaterialsGirlParticipant

Married with a kid?! Wow, that’s fantastic news! Hooray for @veritek!! I’ll have a look through that thread, how are you doing?
And Hallo Wendy! I hope all’s well for you and your family too
As to the LW’s response, it’s great she’s doing some reflection on her reactions and the deeper causes- I guess we landed in this brand new world very quickly and we’ve got to accept that others will react differently than ourselves to it, and show a little empathy.
