Hey, over in my Instagram stories, I’m answering short questions asking for relationship advice. You can ask me anything there (within the limited characters allowed), if you’d like and remain anonymous. So give me a follow if you aren’t yet, and send any questions my way. Thanks!

You know what, would you ever do short-form videos, like reels or tik-toks? Those are so popular and it could be a good way to give advice.

It also would stay up in your grid instead of disappearing after 24 hours, and people could comment.

I sure would! As I am re-engaging with Dear Wendy after a much-needed sabbatical of sorts, the short-form videos are definitely on the agenda.

Well if you’re on instagram you’re probably seeing tik-toks as reels, like the rest of us old people.

Fun! Will this be a regular IG story feature? Currently have no questions but will try to think of something if it’ll help with engagement.

On the subject of TikTok, I downloaded it during one of the 2020 Stay At Home orders. At first I was like, “WTF is this? I’m ‘old’ and don’t understand.” But boooooy did that algorithm figure me out. I had to put a time limit on the app so that I don’t waste too much time on there.

Yes, that I am doing too. I actually get sucked in on stories a lot. Then I put my phone down while it tells everyone I’m watching their stories and I wonder if somewhere out there, someone is like, wow, Kim watches my stories every single day. Why does she do this? What does this mean? Is she subtly trying to tell me she’s unhappy in her marriage? We’ve had a couple of those ?s like my ex watches my stories but blocked me on Facebook, why has she done this?

I kind of want to say- What is her name and number, I will call and ask her why for you! Let’s solve this mystery. This is a service I will advertise on your site in a cool pop up, Wendy. Just tell me how.

I have avoided Tik Tok thus far as I don’t trust myself to set appropriate time boundaries around it.

    Lol, Anonymousse!

That’s why I couldn’t. I stayed away from tik tok because I find it so hilarious. I love it. I think I got so sucked in I decided to avoid it as much as possible.

    I may join you, Wendy.

I just realized what I do all day is advise people not to do the things they see on tiktok if they are our age or younger, or YouTube. Or a decade ago, Dr. Oz was the hottest snake oil/weight loss salesman. I should have a health advise tiktok. Except, I don’t have a medical degree and will admit that? Hmm. I don’t know. I’m very tired and not thinking straight.

I will give you guys a cut if I take this mainstream and start raking in the Benjamin’s.

Yes… I know myself well enough that I know won’t be disciplined so I avoid things completely. I have stayed on Facebook for old friends and Buy Nothing and a couple other neighbor groups for Nannies and stuff like that. If I wasn’t working, I would be on Instagram more than I am and that would be bad. I have also been thinking about the white men leading these companies directly into my brain and I am trying to cut the strings little by little. Instagram feels less chaotic and addictive and algorithms- even though I know it is FB lite.

I left FB a year or two ago. I don’t miss it. I still like Instagram , but the stories don’t suck me in the way TikTok does. I think I prefer the variety on TikTok, but it can be a huge time suck if you’re not careful.

I actually do have an ex whose wife watched my every last Instagram story a few years back. She didn’t miss a single story and I felt like I was being surveilled. I did wonder why she was there, I totally posted about it on the epic dating thread when it started happening. So, guilty on that over here. LOL.

I remember that Copa, she wasn’t your friend, though, right? Or was she following you on Instagram? I don’t think you wondering what she was doing in that case is at all strange, I would too.

I had an ex’s ex move directly across the street from our house long after we started dating, became more serious, I moved in. Like weeks later she moved in across the street and would come over once a week and ask him to get back together, while we were still living together in the tiny (pop. then 5,000 possibly including the students at the local college) town I grew up in. It was bizarre and everyone, even the old folks at the diner were like “What is wrong with this woman?” I’m mean nothing escapes small town scrutiny and she did eventually move, maybe? We moved away and even after we’d moved to CO she sent him emails…

An earlier HS bf ( I had 2) became weirdly fixated on me and would go to my friends parent’s houses while I was in college out of state many years after we broke up asking them for my contact information. That must have been drugs. Thankfully no one ever gave him any information.

I know everyone in this site has seen me in the web at my worst, and I know this is a low bar but- I can say I have never done anything crazy like stalk an ex, their new gf or anything like that level. I’m bad, I know, but not that bad in real life? Fyodor, if you’re out there, I’m sorry. Can we be friends again?
