@missd, the Elta MD is a moisturizing sunscreen (I use it as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen to streamline my products).May 23, 2018 at 2:06 pm #753828
Any mineral sunscreen with zinc will help with redness. I used to actually buy a mask for redness, and it’s active ingredient was zinc.
I have dr. Jart’s cicarepair, which is a green tinted moisturizer (with spf30) that I use as a colorcorrector. When you put it on, it turns skin color.May 23, 2018 at 2:45 pm #753830
Thanks anon for the intel.May 23, 2018 at 2:56 pm #753835
Wendy, do you find the Elta MD to be greasy? I’m combing this thread for recs as I’m in the market. I’m using CeraVe currently and I hate it bc of the greasiness.
ETA: I’m fair/freckly and redness is a big factor for me as well. The hunt for a good moisturizing sunscreen combo w 30 spf or more feels eternal!May 23, 2018 at 3:21 pm #753837
The one I linked to on the last page has a matte finish. I’m back in humidity and it holds up well for me. I’ve heard great things about the EltaMD but I haven’t tried it yet.
I’m very fair and freckly, too. Prince harry looks like my dad did when he was young. 😂May 24, 2018 at 11:51 am #753954
I did see that Queer Eye episode and it looks like many color correcting sticks are only a few bucks. I have rosacea, so I’ll have to try it.May 26, 2018 at 4:34 pm #754144
I tried the La Roche spf 50 today in the drug store. It actually made my face STING and I don’t usually have sensitive skin.
I bought the Vichy Ideal Soleil SPF 50 instead. Will let you guys know what I think of it.May 26, 2018 at 5:30 pm #754146
Oh ouch, MissD.. was it the serum?May 26, 2018 at 5:31 pm #754147
@missdre pain means it’s working. Beauty is pain. Their pigment corrector tingles too, but damn if it didn’t burn my age-related mole right off.May 26, 2018 at 8:10 pm #754160
Lol I’m not trying to burn off moles! I just want a moisturizer that protects me from the sun.May 26, 2018 at 8:17 pm #754161
Anyway! I bought the Vichy SPF 50 moisturizer and I’m also currently using the Vichy Aqualia night cream. However, once I use up that night cream I’m switching to the La Roche B5 Hyaluronic Acid cream. My doctor recommends that ingredient.
My skin has been feeling and looking like shit recently and I just realize that I need to be taking better care of it.May 26, 2018 at 10:40 pm #754168
I second the early recommendation for Olay Complete SPF 30. Moisturizes, smells neutral, doesn’t sting or break me out.
Aveeno sunscreens are also nice but a little rich for my combination skin in the summer.
