    Hi all,

We’re super lucky to be riding out Covid-19 with a yard and the ability to work from home… with a 3 year old. In the past, we haven’t bought many toys/games for our kid because we frequented the community pool, children’s play museum, parks, library, etc. Obviously, we’re not doing those activities for the foreseeable future.

I’d like to add a few toys to our collection in an attempt to keep her happy and me sane while working from home. I feel a little overwhelmed right now and could really use some recommendations for toys – things like a kiddie pool, a pedal bike (she’s gotten really good at her strider), and ??. I don’t have a good grasp of what’s “out there.” What should I buy? What do your kids love? Thank you!!

Obviously depends on your space and budget, but swing sets/slides are usually popular.

Little tykes and playskool etc make playhouses, slides, mini playground sets for backyards, too. A pedal bike or a scooter…hula hoops, kickballs, chalk, bubbles. There are slip n slides, sprinklers…cruise target or amazon and you’ll find a ton of stuff. Giant Jenja is fun to build with, too.

Yeah, I was going to say a sprinkler. When I was a kid we just had a basic one that went back and forth, and we loved running through it. Anything you can hook up to a hose, kids love. Or one of those water activity tables.

A sandbox is cool too, with a cover to keep cats from pooping in it.

A Bigwheel bike/trike or a little car with pedals would be awesome.

Oh, a wagon too. Kids like putting things in wagons and pulling them around.

    A little tent?

I bought a trampoline for my kids 2 weeks ago. Best purchase ever. They have been playing on it for at least 1 hr every day. And I get to use it too for exercise 🙂

Sandbox is a big hit with our 3 year old! Water tables also help when it is warm enough. My husband fills a bucket with water and gives our daughter her toy water can and tells her to water the lawn. It occupied her for close to 45 minutes!

Mom of a 3.5 year old here. My daughter loves her water table and sandbox. We have a kiddie pool for warm days and just bought a blow up hot tub (faux-tub) since I imagine we won’t be able to go to the pool this year. Last year, we got a small swing set and a sprinkler, which have been a hit. We also use some smaller items like plenty of chalk and bubbles. My husband has the ambitions to build her a larger play set completed with a much-desired tire swing.

Thanks, everyone! We bought a blow-up kiddie pool (big mouth’s rainbow style) and a baby doll (Melissa and Doug’s Mine to Love). (We already had a small covered sandbox.) I would love names (product styles) of specific products you love, too, if you have the energy. I’m embarrassed about how much time I spent figuring out which pool and baby to buy.
