It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing now. Today, we hear from “The Bride’s Not The Crazy One” who was afraid her mentally ill dad would cause a scene at her wedding if allowed to give a toast. Keep reading to see how her wedding turned out.
Thanks for your and your readers’ advice. It really helped me calm down in the weeks before the wedding. — Happy Bride
So glad you had such a nice wedding!

I really appreciate it when people figure out how to create a win-win situation. Good on you, LW!

“He did end up giving a short speech at the reception and made a really offensive joke (that a lot of people booed!)”
Awkward!

I love that people actually booed though instead of just going silent haha.

Don’t you hate it when updates leave you with more questions?
AKchic November 14, 2013, 3:39 pm
Yes. It sucks. I’d like to know what the joke was, if the LW can remember it.

This is the LW. I don’t remember the exact wording of the joke, but it was something about how my wedding was the opposite of 9/11. So…yeah.
