If you follow me on Twitter, you may have caught my announcement that I’ll be on the 4th hour of the “Today Show” with Hoda and Kathie Lee tomorrow morning. I’ve been on the show twice before, but only as a model for a couple of fashion segments (full disclosure: Drew is an editor there), so being a panelist was a different experience altogether. I’ll be on discussing how to get along with your neighbors.
I got the invite on Friday and we taped on Monday morning, which meant I had approximately two days to freak out about what to wear. I’m six months pregnant now and since I work from home and the summer heat is on, my current wardrobe consists of stretchy house dresses, tank tops and yoga pants. Luckily, there are about 8 million pregnant ladies in my neighborhood and at least a handful of stores that cater to all of us, so it didn’t take too long to find something at least somewhat appropriate for morning TV.
Of course, as soon as I found something to wear, my anxiety turned to all the different ways I could — and no doubt, would — make a fool of myself. Any kind of public speaking is way out of my comfort zone, but I pushed myself and I’m glad I did. As it turns out, the experience wasn’t nearly as nerve-wracking as I feared it would be, and hopefully I didn’t embarrass myself too much (I guess I’ll find out tomorrow!). If I’m ever asked back, I hope I get a drinking segment next time (post-baby, of course).
If I’m able to, I’ll post a clip, or at least a link to a clip after it airs.
