This is my birthday weekend. Well, sort of. My birthday is actually Monday, but I’m going to celebrate throughout the weekend, because why not? And by “celebrate” I mean do my usual stuff, but with more cake. Also, I think I’ll cash in a gift certificate for a massage Drew got me for our anniversary back in July. My friend Matt is coming to town for work and he’s going to join me and Drew and my friend Mary Saturday night for a pre-birthday celebration. I decided to keep things small and save a bigger-type celebration for my 40th, which is still, like, 11 years away. Just kidding. It’s two years away! I’ll be 38 on Monday and you know what? I feel great! I love even number years and 38 just seems like a good, solid number. I have high hopes for the year ahead.
Monday night — my birthday, if we didn’t establish that enough in the last paragraph — is a full moon, supermoon, harvest moon, which is astronomical and astrological speak for: “shit’s gonna be awesome.” I love harvest time — the beginning of fall, back-to-school, re-focusing on work. Jackson had preschool orientation this week (he LOVED it!) and starts for real on Wednesday, and I’m excited to have more time in the week while he’s in school to get stuff done, and especially to re-focus on DW. I feel like the summer was a time of transition here and I’ve been doing a lot of work behind the scenes and now it’s time to (hopefully) see some of the fruits of that labor. Harvest time! 38! Shit’s gonna be awesome!
Happy weekend, everyone! Hope y’all have a great one.

Happy birthday! I always celebrate with a birthday month personally. I tried to tell my husband that I needed a birthday year and he wasn’t having any of that. He’s just no fun.

Also, I know lots and lots of people with birthday’s right around this time of year. Are you all holiday babies?

My birthday is next Saturday and I believe the story I heard was that I might have been conceived on Christmas. More than I needed to know 😉

Happy birthday, Wendy Kay (Kay!)
So know what happened yesterday when I got home from work? I’ll tell you. It was very scary.
*
I opened the door and Moose was not right there waiting for me. He was no where. Usually he’s at the door waiting for me or on the couch and then leaps off to meet me at the door. Not this time. The place was quiet and still. And something was amiss: one of my (new custom-made – which is a sign that I am an adult!) side table was knocked over on its side, and the glass top had popped out and was on the ground. At first I was certain the glass was broken. I put two and two together and figured: oh shit, Moose, who likes to sit right on the arm of the sofa, probably stepped onto the side table, causing it to come crashing down, and he must have cut him self while my baby was all alone and then probably bled to death somewhere in the apartment! *GASP* *My Moose pie!* All of these realizations and thoughts came to me within a few seconds of entering the apartment, and I started to panic and I yelled “MOOSE?” louder and louder – like 3 whole times – and those few seconds felt like an hour and he didn’t respond and then…. and THEN BAM there he was, walking casually down the hall like “oh hey mom what’s up” He wasn’t hurt. And then I realized the glass to the side table was not shattered. Though he probably scared himself, he didn’t cut himself. Phew, thank god.
*
All that to say: those few seconds were THE SCARIEST SECONDS EVER. So of course that night I had a nightmare about Moose. I dreamt I went to Michigan and left Moose in Chicago but he set off on foot to find me and along the way he met some very mean kids that tortured him and threw him in the lake and by the time he got to me he was so tired but so happy to be with me and I FELT SO BAD.

Sorry for your scare! I had a scare with a spider this morning. But it was WAY different than your scare, cuz I want that f-er dead. I seriously was traumatized all morning. I have a totally irrational fear of all bugs. It’s not natural to move that fast! *shudder*

Happy birthday, Wendy! I should’ve guessed we’re both virgos…my 35th birthday is on Thursday – yep, I am a 9/11 babe. Lucky me, I know.

Also… My bachelorette party is this weekend! Super excited for it! We’re doing an afternoon at a spa, where I will receive a massage and a blow-out. While we’re not getting treatments, there is a roof deck we can hang out on and drink wine and eat snacks. Also, water! Because no one wants to pass out early at their own bachelorette party! After the spa, we’re going to get drinks at the Oak Room Long Bar in Boston, then to my favorite sushi place for dinner, then off to da’ club (lounge?) for more drinks and dancing! So excited!!
Dear Wendy September 5, 2014, 5:38 pm
Happy early birthday! Enjoy your bachelorette party — sounds so fun!

Happy early birthday!
Earlier this week was the anniversary of our first date and so we’re having a date at the restaurant we met, as we do every year. He’s flying out again tomorrow so it will be bittersweet. But I’m happy.
Oh, and last night I watched the documentary Piece of Work and really enjoyed it. Gave me a new appreciation for her. And it’s nice to watch whatever I want while I’m living alone right now.

We sure do! I’m the very last day of Virgo. Confession: In high school I was in a “band” called The V-Chicks. Because we were an all girl band and we we all virgos.
.
Happy birthday, Wendy from the former lead singer and guitar player of the V-Chicks!

Happy birthday, Wendy! Hey, my daughter’s a Virgo and yes, they do rock! My philosophy on bdays is 1) your age doesn’t matter, but 2) the celebration should go on as long as possible! So keep on keepin’ on!

Happy birthday! I saw the moon briefly while driving to work this morning (I go to work SO EARLY) and it was so huge and orange and low that for a second I thought it was a street sign. It was cray.
