Weekend Open Thread

Fun fact: One Friday evening about six or seven years ago, I made up a really catchy song after I dressed up Miles and Simone in kitty wigs and saw how cute they looked. The song goes: “Miles and Simone looking really cute, looking really cute, looking really cute. Miles and Simone looking really cute on this Friday night in October.” See, catchy? Anyway, every year when October rolls around, I sing this song to them every Friday night for the whole month (regardless of what they’re wearing or not wearing) and, every October, I am grateful that they’re both still around for me to sing the song to. And this October I get to be especially grateful because we get FIVE Fridays. (And also, Jackson is old enough now to learn the song and sing along). Miles and Simone are thrilled.

So, listen, while the rest of you are out doing the stuff you do on Friday nights in October — early Halloween parties, camping, beer halls, movies and concerts and plays, oh my — I’ll be at home, maybe sipping a pumpkin ale, cleaning out my closets in preparation for our move in a few weeks, and singing made-up songs to my cats all night. Give me a husband, give me a kid, give me enough friends to fill a back room of a dive bar on a Saturday night; I’m still nothing but a crazy cat lady at heart. Happy weekend, y’all!
