Birthday cupcake

Thanks again for all your sweet comments and well-wishes when I shared our happy news the other day. I’m excited to share more of my thoughts and experiences with you as the pregnancy progresses and once the baby is here. A big difference I’ve noticed so far this time around vs. when I was pregnant with Jackson is that it’s going by pretty quickly and I feel much more relaxed about things. Maybe all that will change as I get further along and more uncomfortable and the reality of balancing the needs and responsibility of caring for two kids under the age of five starts hitting m———— holy crap, I’m going to have two kids under five!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all the excitement this week, a special day passed without my thinking of it. Last Saturday, this site turned four! Wow. I was re-reading some columns from that first month, like this one from day two, and then later, my pregnancy announcement with Jackson, and realized that a lot has changed, but a lot has remained the same (or gotten better). Many commenters are long gone, but so many of you have been reading and commenting since the very beginning and I can’t tell you how much your loyalty means and what an honor it’s been to watch this community grow and evolve. Think of all the milestones we’ve shared (virtually) with each other — breakups and marriages and moves and new jobs and babies and deaths and divorces and vacations and all the lessons along the way. People tell me they’ve learned a lot from the shared wisdom of experience here, and I feel the same way. I’ve grown up a lot in the last four years and I don’t think the evolution would have been quite the same or quite as intense if I hadn’t been sharing those years with you. So, thank you. Thank you for reading, for sticking around, for supporting each other, and for sharing your stories and experiences. Here’s to many more years together!

Finally, one more birthday I cannot forget: Happy birthday to my sister, Allison, who turns 32 tomorrow. I love you, sis, and am so proud of the woman you’ve become. Here’s a picture of us when we were babies.

Happy weekend, everyone! Enjoy your Super Bowl parties and/or whatever else you have planned.

Reading the pregnancy announcement with Jackson, I think its awesome that a) you thought he was a boy and b) thought he looked like Drew. Both of those are definitely right 🙂

Also, last Saturday, Dear Wendy’s birthday, was also my quarter birthday and forgot to celebrate! Oh, wait, no, next month is my quarter birthday. I guess I just like to celebrate the 24th of each month. The 24th is a good day.

I’m slow at work and trying to catch up on DW; I’ve missed a lot of days, though I’ve been trying to chime in here and there. Right now, I’m really regretting all the food I ate for lunch and I’m thinking about heading home early to take a nap with Moose. TGIF!

Congratulations, Wendy! I am a long-time reader/lurker since you were writing via the frisky. I’m so happy for you and your growing family. I’m actually 14 weeks pregnant myself so I can relate to the feeling of excitement and nervousness of it all. Please keep us updated on your pregnancy. Wishing you all the best!

Woohoo! Happy birthday DW!!! I’ve been reading since the beginning too. I remember once I was reading through some of the old forums (including my own, UGH, sorry guys) and it was like a walk down memory lane.

Also, just for fun, we should tally how many breakups DW has helped us get through! I got through one really bad one. 🙂

I can’t believe it’s taken me 4 years to finally start commenting on here (or that it’s actually been 4 years). I’ve gotten married, moved twice, and gotten a second dog since this all started.

Wow I can’t believe its been 4 years of this site! I started dating my husband 6 months before it started and I don’t know what I would do without it. I’ve learned a lot and have become much more successful with all sorts of relationships in my life.

Wow, great news! The second one is different. I used to wake my daughter when she was a newborn to make sure she was breathing. With my son, it was, eh, he’s ok. It’s not that I loved him less, it’s that I wasn’t so worried.

I can’t believe it’s been four years and I’m still just lurking. I enjoy your site so much. Even if I don’t always comment I always enjoy coming here. The tight-knit community is fascinating, if a bit daunting. I like sitting in the corner pretending I’m part of the family 😉

Happy birthday DW! I still love reading this site and the community you’ve created.

So, my super nerdy weekend has come to an end. I got to take an awesome picture with many Doctor Who folks, which was fantastic. Crazy long lines, but it was awesome to get my photo with Matt Smith.

The con also had several voice actors, who pretty much were my childhood. Jim Cummings (aka Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, the Tazmanian Devil, among many others), Jess Harnell (aka Wakko Warner and many others), and Rob Paulsen (aka Yakko Warner, Raphael/Donatello and many many others) were all there. And they were all awesome. We went to an Animaniac panel, and Rob Paulsen sang the Nations of the World in Yakko’s voice. Later, they did a reading of the Harry Potter script using various character voices. My favorite was Pinky as Harry and Winnie the Pooh as Voldemort. I also got to say hi to all of them, and I even got “helllllooooo nurse”d at. 🙂

Although, my favorite part was with Jim Cummings. He would do a voice recording for you. So I got him to wish my niece (who turns 5 on Monday) a happy birthday from Tigger and Winnie the Pooh. I hope she likes it and she believes I totally meet the two of them 🙂

Guys! Drew surprised me with an overnight stay at our favorite B&B up north (I’d say “upstate,” but it’s only an hour and half north of manhattan; we take the train there). He booked reservations for us weeks ago and a baby-sitter to stay with jackson. He took the day off work tomorrow, so we’re going to leave in a couple hours and stay until tomorrow evening. And he booked me a prenatal massage while we’re there, too. Major husband points, he has scored.
