Weekend Open Thread

(Come Together – directed by Wes Anderson starring Adrien Brody)

Well, as Jackson said last night before bed as I reminded him that today would be his last day of school for the year and that Hanukkah would begin in two nights, and Christmas the next day, and his best friend would be here the night after that, and we’d be visiting his grandparents three days after that: “Christmastime is really coming on now.” And, so it is.

I’ll be popping in a little bit over the next week and a half, but mostly I’ll be spending time offline, with family and friends, and I hope you are looking forward to some of the same. Whatever you celebrate this time of year — even if it’s just the end of what has been a crazy year — I hope your spirits are warmed by people, or at least a well-mixed seasonal cocktail. Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas!

Can I just do a poll here and ask how many of you would go visit your family in Boston and insist everyone go see Patriot’s Day (Marathon bombing movie with Mark Wahlberg) on Christmas Eve? Anyone?

I did not go, but my mom felt pressured into going and had to put her head down and hold her ears.

Aaannnd don’t see Manchester by the Sea either. Like really, dont. The acting is incredible but it’s more “Seven” than “Good Will Hunting.”
