Happy Friday! And happy August. I can’t believe this summer is half over already. Kids on the West Coast will be going back to school in the next week or so, which seems crazy to me (here in NYC, public school starts after Labor Day). But it’s been a good summer so far and I’m going to soak up the remaining weeks as much as I can. I’ve crossed a few things off my summer bucket list (weekly picnics, an evening in Red Hook, I just bought tickets for a Broadway show we’re going to see later this month), but need to get cracking on some others (this is still the only book I’ve finished, I haven’t taken a yoga or pilates class yet, and Jackson’s still riding his bike with training wheels).
Tomorrow we’re going to Jersey for the second weekend in a row, this time to visit some friends. (I’m bringing bug spray. We were out there last weekend visiting my in-laws and I still have welts on my legs from the nasty bites I got while I was there. We’ve got the rats, Jersey’s got the hungry bugs, I guess.) And on Sunday, weather permitting, we’re taking the kids to Coney Island. We haven’t been yet this season and I doubt Joanie has any memory of ever going, so I’m excited for the experience. What are you all up to?
Oh, and by the way, this is the last weekend for the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I stocked up on my favorite bra, which I’ve linked to before. (My neighbor even texted me this morning, after reading my recent weekly picks post, and asked if she could have some bras sent to my address since she’ll be out of town and didn’t want to miss out on the great sale prices.) I ordered these boots for fall, but they ran out of my size before they could ship them out to me. If you are one of the few remaining sizes they have left, maybe order yourself a pair to try. There are six pages of reviews and almost all are five stars.
P.S. I hit 5,000 Facebook likes this week; can you help me reach my goal of 7,500 by the end of the year? Please like Dear Wendy if you haven’t already, and feel free to tag friends you think may enjoy the site or specific posts I link to. As always, thank you for your support and for making it possible for me to continue doing work I love, from home, on my own schedule and around the needs of my family. I feel very lucky and grateful!
