Happy Friday, everyone! And happy birthday to me — I’m 41 today, eek. I got a massage today and a manicure, and I’m having a taco dinner with my fam tonight and dinner out with friends tomorrow to celebrate, and I’m feeling very loved, incredibly fortunate and — ok, I’ll say it — “blessed,” but I’m also feeling very anxious for my people who live in Florida (including my sister and her boyfriend in Miami Beach), as well as those of you who may be impacted by Irma. Stay safe, guys! I hope those of you who were able evacuated while there was time. And I hope this won’t be as awful as predicted. Let’s check in on the other side, ok?

Happy Birthday, Wendy! We’re anxiously watching Irma. My husband had planned to take our daughter to visit my in-laws in Florida this week; they were supposed to leave yesterday and return on Sunday. I was going to get three glorious days ALONE!! Needless to say, that didn’t happen. They’re re-booked for next Tuesday, but we’ll see how things go. My in-laws live about 25 miles from the Atlantic coast, not too far from Orlando, and they own an oceanfront condo in New Smyrna Beach. We have some other family in central Florida as well, and family friends in the Miami area. I’m pretty nervous. It looks like the track has shifted to the west, which would be good in terms of impacts on our family, but bad for someone else’s family. At least people are taking this storm seriously!

Good luck to all your people. I saw that the storm has shifted and I immediately felt relief for everyone I know on the east side, but then felt really bad for those on the west side. Still about 20 hours to go until it reaches Florida — maybe it will lose a lot of strength and not be as bad as predicted.

I have a client in Tampa and used to live there. On the work side, we’re prepping for a disaster recovery all day today. On the personal side, I know too many people who are planning on riding it out at home…I’m just hoping it loses steam. The potential devastation just makes me lose my breath.
