Weekend Open Thread

What are you up to this weekend? We’re headed to New Jersey to hang with Drew’s brother’s family for the weekend where we/the kids have been promised plenty of swimming. Hope you all have a good one, and happy Father’s Day to all the dads!

I already regret that emoji. I’m doing painting and potting today. Tomorrow, we will likely all go out to breakfast in the morning, I’ll visit my parents later in the afternoon, and then my husband will go to a concert with our older son.

I am also doing some garden upkeep today. Need to cut some spinach. Our flowers just bloomed. Woohoo. We planted broccoli for the first time. It’s huge. I had to do some research on how long it takes to bloom. A long time. Hoping it happens as i love broccoli.

It’s already crazy hot here so that will be in the evening for sure. I think due to the heat it will be one errand we have to run and a lazy day around the house. Tomorrow steaks for Father’s Day and the kid and him plan to play tennis in the evening once it cools down some…although it was in the 80s all night last night!

It’s been a rough week. My husband’s mother is in the hospital with pneumonia and some other problems. Work has been physically panic-inducing recently, culminating in Friday night, shit still not working properly at 10pm. Today I went to see my favorite aunt who is having some mobility challenges and staying with my parents for the weekend. She did make delicious brownies, which we had with ice cream.

Today I feel exhausted and hung over, probably from the panic toxins and getting up to check my laptop. We’re going for a nice Italian dinner.

And Jesus Christ, this parent-and-child-separation thing with the bogus biblical justification and the completely bonkers blaming of democrats. Sickening.

So I wanted a new dress for a meeting in NYC today, and I was in Ann Taylor yesterday… my husband was like, “I like that one,” on a mannequin. I tried it on and bought it, 50% off and looks like it still is. I mention it because I got 3 compliments on it from women in the airport, and because I was comfortable in it in 95-degree heat but it wasn’t revealing. I’m 5’4” and got petite.
