Weekend Open Thread

Happy Friday! This week I have done really only five things, at least three of which I am guessing at least half of you have also been doing: I started watching the R. Kelly documentary; I did a major Marie Kondo-style closet-purge (and I haven’t even watched her new show yet OR read her bestselling book); I made #TheStew (a recipe that has gone viral and for good reason – it is delicious!); I continued reading this book in an effort to meet my goal of reading 25 books this year (is it too soon to say I’m on track?); and I did this 1000-piece puzzle. Oh, and I finally seemed to have kicked the sinus infection that I had for two weeks straight (or, since last year!). Just living life in the fast lane, guys. What about you? Have a great weekend!

I’ve been cleaning out our closets, too. It feels good. I haven’t watched the show or read the book, but I have been looking forward to going thrifting in the Kondo-wake.

I have successfully started running. I feel more accomplished than I probably should. I’ve gone on a few runs already this year, which seems easy but is kind of hard to schedule with two toddlers before the sun goes down.

Oh, and after going to one of those damned indoor bounce house places, both my kids got super sick and I have been doing laundry around the clock and scrubbing body fluids of the walls all week.

    Happy weekend!

How about a before & after of your closet, Wendy?

Here’s a solid psychological thriller if anyone is into these sorts of things:

We also got 3 packs of Hot Hands hand warmers and toe warmers at the drugstore because all of a sudden it’s actually cold. We don’t turn the heat on in our place because it’s that over-aggressive free heat that comes blasting up from the sub-basement and kills you, and usually we have to have all the windows open a bit just to counteract the hot pipes! But yesterday I was legit cold, and it felt so amazing to have the warmers. I even wore them in my pajamas last night until they cooled off. Truly a miracle product.

I didn’t think to take a before picture of the closet and now I’m about midway through the clean-out. (well, I’m almost done with my portion of the closet; I still need to get drew to go through his stuff). I might have some photos in my phone though -I’ll look!

And my mom sent us a bunch of those hand warmers last month after her BIL introduced her and my dad to them. We’ve only used them once so far bc it just got cold here, but they work really well and I was going to include them in an upcoming Wendy’s Picks.

They get hot AF if you leave them in your coat pockets. And they last really long too. I’m enjoying the toe-warmer ones in my Uggs today. They have adhesive to stick to the bottom of your sock.

Need them on my feet right now. Fever has kicked in and I am freezing. Don’t worry I’ll be hot in a few mins ha. I bought myself 2 new pairs of Uggs this season (well three if you count my snow boots). I don’t wear them in public but I got new boots and slippers. So glad I did. I thought about it and realized both were almost 8 years old. Weren’t so comfy anymore. So glad I have them in the cold weather here.

Funnily enough I never thought about using hand/toe warmers indoors, because I’ve only ever used them for winter hiking. I’ll have to remember that the next time I’m cold!

They stayed hot all day, so I stuck them in my gloves when I went out, and in my pockets/clothes in the house. The toe warmers stick on your socks, so you could wear slippers in the house and be very toasty.

Oh yes on the before and after! I love before and after closet pics. I’m in the process of converting a too small bedroom that’s directly next to ours into my closet/dressing room. I’ll also do my makeup in there for a.) more room and b.) natural lighting since my bathroom mirror is a big fat liar. Will be nice to have my own special girl world. The room is really only big enough to be like a office or nursery so it’ll work out nicely.

I ordered the Japanese Bath Salts you recommended Wendy and they came today! Now all I want to do is head home and take a bath!
