Big exciting things in my life this week: I got a haircut after 125 days, and so did Jackson (I cut Drew’s and Joanie’s hair, so they’re good). I also took Jackson to the beach – we went with friends who have a car; we all wore masks and drove with the windows down. Other than that, same ol’, same ol’. In about three weeks, we’re going upstate for a few days – to the same rental house we stayed in last summer – and I guess that will be our big vacation for the summer/year. This weekend I’m going to try to see the Neowise comet, which would be much easier to spot if we were upstate now but it doesn’t hurt to look (it’s most visible in the NE sky, about an hour after sunset, if you want to try to see it yourselves). I might watch the movie Palm Springs on Hulu – have any of you seen it yet? – and do a little deck garden pruning and I’ll probably try a new recipe or two. Exciting times around here! What are you up to?

I listen to Call Your Girlfriend on the regular and I absolutely love Ann F and Aminatou S. I must read their book.

We watched Palm Springs on Friday night and loved it, if anyone needs a movie rec!

I got this little bottle of “Tanologist” drops at Target… you can put 1-12 drops in your moisturizer for face or body. They are awesome! I use on my face and no streaks or orange tone.
Also, NYX brow mascara is actually better than Benefit Gimme Brow. I get the blonde color.
I’m also on my third tube of Maybelline Dream BB Fresh, which is an awesome product. It gives you some color, you don’t need any primer, and it has sunscreen. Their Age Rewind concealer with the round sponge tip is great too. I can deal with these on my face in hot weather.
And finally, yesterday I used ONE product in my hair and it was Sebastian Dark Oil, which I usually just use on my ends after it’s dry. This time I put it on wet, diffused a little bit, and let it dry the rest of the way. It has silicone, but it’s a water soluble kind that washes out. It’s actually like a treatment serum but it works as a styler. Not at all greasy, and it says it gives your hair body too.

Thank you for sharing these articles. Both the one about interracial friendships and the one about dating particularly resonated with me. I placed a library hold on the book from the first article and can’t wait to read it!

I actually attended a Zoom wedding for my cousin two weekend’s ago. They had a small, immediate family-only ceremony in a wooded area in California (surrounded by Redwoods!). Definitely a strange experience, but I’m glad I got to be there and the groom (my cousin) said it meant a lot that people bothered to tune in. They’re planning a vow renewal and party for next summer more in line with what their original event was supposed to be like. (Assuming it happens) I can’t wait!
