Happy Friday! What a week. It’s nice to feel some hope, isn’t it, even in the midst of ongoing despair? The adults are back in the room, and for the first time in nearly a year, the anxiety I have felt about the our response to Covid, among many other things, has lowered just a little bit. The hope I feel for the generation rising up, embodied by Amanda Gorman at the inauguration, is abundant.

I’ve been aware of and interested in it for a few years but never put it in my cart. But last Thursday it was on sale for one day for $82, and I got it. I have to say, it’s perfect for the pandemic. If you want to feel like you went outside in your down comforter and pillow, but with 6 pockets to hold all your stuff, it’s for you. It’s been in the 20s and super windy all weekend and I’m perfectly toasty in it. I got beige and kind of feel like a marshmallow in it, but it’s so comfy. When I opened the box and tried it on, my husband was pretty jealous of it and said it looked good. The hood is very roomy to cover your entire head and not go blowing off, but you can also not put it all the way up (for visibility sake) but it cradles the back of your head, your neck, and ears, instead of just hanging down your back.
Anyway, I bet it goes on sale again this winter. I saw the sale on CNN and major websites, the way they let you know when the Revlon hot brush goes on sale ?. It comes in kids sizes too.

Someone else had posted about this coat recently. I’ve been on the hunt for a new, warm winter coat for my daily walks but didn’t want to spend tons of money. I did spend some money on new boots. I bought the Ugg Adirondack and so far I’m loving them.

I’ve used them to walk to the grocery store, close to 4 miles round trip in snow, and they were great. I haven’t walked further than that yet because a lot of days I can still wear tennis shoes while on my long walks, like today.
My feet have stayed warm too. Including at a friends when we hung out on her deck for a couple hours for my birthday. All we had outside was a small space heater, a summer awning with netted sides and we sat about 15 feet apart. Oh, and she and her husband have had both vaccination shots because they’re in the medical industry. She had flu like symptoms for about 36 hours after the second. He was completely fine.

I have those! I think I’ve posted about them, not sure. Mine are white with a little light gray snake trim. They are so lightweight, comfortable, and warm!!!

But we’ve only had snow once this year and it’s a mild winter for the most part, so I wear my regular suede Uggs all the time. I have the “mini” size because I’m kind of short and I think they’re cuter. There is seriously nothing so cushy and toasty warm on your feet. Another perfect pandemic item. They also make a more affordable version under the Koolaburra by Ugg brand, sold on Amazon. It’s not AS thick and cushy with the sheepskin, but it’s still great, and much less $.

Wow! I’m not even sure how that works. I’ve seen snow precisely once in my life when a freak snow hit where I was living when I was 5. We got enough snow to make a tiny snowman about 10cm high. Hopefully it doesn’t disrupt too much.
