Weekend Open Thread and Links

Happy first weekend of the decade. Do you have any plans? We’ll be taking down our Christmas tree and storing away the holiday stuff for the next 11 months, which I’m always almost as excited to do as taking them out again in early December. The rest of the weekend will probably be spent planning and cooking vegetable-forward meals, filling in my calendar with important dates, avoiding alcohol, and organizing all the closets in the house because it’s a new year and I’m feeling so fucking virtuous. Just kidding, I’ll probably have a drink. (Also, I basically organize the closets on a monthly basis because I’m a Virgo and it gives me joy, or at least some calming sense of control, in a life where so much is out of my control.)

Anyway, here are a few links from around the web that you might enjoy:

    Whoa, product alert! 🚨

    This moisturizer is dirt cheap but it’s some kind of hidden wonder. My 76-y/o aunt was getting really dry flaky skin in the nursing home, so my other aunt brought her this St Ives face cream that she uses and swears it never clogs a lore or anything. Today I was like, shit, Martha, your skin looks amazing. Seriously, it was glowing and radiant and wrinkle-free and she had color in her cheeks. Like wtf! This is a woman who has never done anything but wash her face and wear a sun hat. No products ever, and you’d think she got an expensive facial. I’m going to buy this stuff. The only thing is it doesn’t have SPF. But damn, so worth the $4.

      * doesn’t clog a pore. Autocorrect.

      Bummer, doesn’t look like it exists over here anymore which is a shame as it looks nice. It sounds kind of like Cerave in the tub which we did just get over here and it’s awesome, very thick and nourishing but it dries down nice and matte.

        Yeah, no oily shine to it or anything. I told her all about the fires and we looked at a map. Two of her favorite nurses are from Australia. It seems like they started to get control of it today? I hope?

        Depends where really, some are a lot better like the one near me but some are still going strong. Thankfully the weather has cooled down a lot which can only help. My area was the hottest place on earth the other day, 48.9c or 120f. That wasn’t much fun 😐
