Wendy’s Picks

Last week when I was bedridden with shingles, I killed time reading, making up ways to crawl out of my skin, and watching “Forever.” “Forever,” if you haven’t heard of it, is a new tv show about a long-term couple (Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen) who are in a rut of a routine, doing the same things day in and day out, when they suddenly find themselves in a completely different world that can either turn their routine on its head or continue it… forever. It’s superbly done — a creative story with wonderful and nuanced performances and an insightful message. It’s pretty to look at, too. I really loved it.

How cool are these earrings? They’re budget-friendly and perfect colors for autumn, too!

Woah, 16 Korean sheet masks for under $10? Yes, please!

Besides politics, is there anything more divisive that candy corn? Well, maybe this candy corn crossbody bag? (I fall in the “love it” camp.)

Totally different kind of bag (like different ends of the spectrum), but I love the look and practicality of this one. I use a lot of totes in my life as a mom, filling them with pull-ups and water and wipes and snacks (and a laptop on days when they’re both in school and I have time to work in a coffee shop for a bit), and this canvas one looks roomy while still being stylish.

How cool are these Gerrymander necklaces?! Sick of politicians making up their own districts to suit their agenda? Custom create your own districts (well, district jewelry, anyway)! All proceeds benefit OMG WTF, a tax-exempt political organization.

A couple months ago a reader emailed me to recommend the book, The Passion Trap: How to Right an Unbalanced Relationship by Dean C Delis, Ph D. I still have not had a chance to read it, but maybe it’s exactly what you’re looking for so I wanted to mention it, along with the reader’s review: “I have never recommended any self-help books…ever, but I think it will help many of your readers and posters. It explores the imbalance in relationships (the one up and the one down) and how to restore balance or say goodbye to the relationship. It applies to most posters.”

I’ve ordered those masks twice. They’re pretty good, especially for the price!

Also started watching Forever as I have been laid up trying NOT to have this baby until later this week (gotta finish a big work event tomorrow).

I know you shop at Anthropologie, Wendy, and I had never shopped there before, but I realized there is one near my new place. I saw this sweater, and I would normally never spend anywhere near this much on a sweater, but I’m SO happy I did!

I got the honey color, and it’s definitely bigger/longer on me than the model, but in a good way. Like a very fashionable Snuggie. People at work are coveting it, with the building heat not turned on yet. I also like that it’s not loose woven like a typical sweater, so it won’t pull or snag on things. I want to wear it every day. It kind of reads like a camel coat, neutral, so I feel like I can. The pictures don’t do it justice, check it out in person if you’re near the store. I sized up to S because there was no XS, and I think that is better.

I love Anthropologie, but don’t always like their inventory and often don’t like the prices. I’ve really liked their selection this fall. The last time I was in there, I think they’d just stepped up their fall game, and I was in love with all of the cardigans on the mannequins.

I can’t atop buying their home items. I need all of it.

They were burning some seasonal candle in there that I was loving, but I felt like I was already blowing enough dough on the sweater. Oh, I had it on when I met my husband down the street for dinner after work, and the first thing he said was wow I like that sweater thing – you look really sharp.

I’ve been buying those sheet masks for a couple of years and I LOVE them! Are they the greatest thing in the world and make me look 25 again? No. Are they super comforting, fun and smell good? Yes. And I can see a difference in my skin when I use them. I started giving them as ‘stocking stuffer’ gifts to my girlfriends last Christmas and they all love them.
I find when I buy super pricey sheet masks I kind of hoard them. With these, I’ll do them several times a week. They are the perfect, pour a glass of wine, put on the mask and watch “Escape to the Country” or whatever while setting an Alexa timer.
