“Wendy’s Weekly Picks,” is a feature in which I highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the things I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:
I need a new bag that’s big enough to carry a library book, a wallet, and maybe a couple diapers and a bottle when I don’t feel like lugging a whole diaper bag. A friend turned me on to Hobo brand bags a while ago and I really like this one, especially for spring/summer. This one is great, too, or this one. All massively marked down!
Are you all watching the Amazon original series, Catastrophe? If not, you should be! It’s hilarious, and it’s not dumb at all like most sit-coms are. The premise is: an American guy, on business in London, has a “one-week stand” with a “London schoolteacher that leads to an accidental pregnancy. When he moves to the UK to help figure things out, cultures clash and hormones flare as these two realize they don’t know the first thing about each other.” Drew and I are watching season two now, which I am especially enjoying because the couple just had their second baby and so I relate to some of the issues they’re dealing with. It’s an R-rated comedy, fyi, so there’s lots of dick jokes, swearing, and naked boobs. You’re welcome.
Shout-out again for Stitch Fix in case you haven’t tried it yet. I’ve had four “fixes” now and, though they aren’t always a hit (in the last delivery, I only kept one out of five items), I always get something I love that I wouldn’t have found or gotten for myself otherwise. I have a couple of new spring tops from Stitch Fix (including the one pictured above, made exclusively for Stitch Fix) that I’ve just started wearing and get tons of compliments on. It’s so easy to try on the stuff in the comfort of my own home and then return in the pre-addressed bag everything I don’t want to keep. Try it for yourself!
I was having dinner in Manhattan the other night with my friend, Taigi, who’s probably my most fashion-forward friend, and she was wearing this amazing faux fur pompom necklace I noticed right away. Other people noticed it, too; at one point, this older woman in a floor-length fur coat and walking with an entourage to a private room in the back of the restaurant stopped when she saw Taigi and said, “I love your necklace! Pompoms are very ‘in’ right now! I read it in the The Washington Post, no wait, The Wall Street Journal.” Of course, as soon as I got home, I Googled the article and sent the link to Taigi, who had, of course, just looked up the article herself. She told me to check out Asos for cute pompom accessories, which is where I found these awesome earrings. Elsewhere, I also love this necklace, this necklace if you’re feeling fancy, these earrings, this purse if you’re a high roller (or this one if you aren’t). Pompoms!
In an effort to stop snacking on all of Jackson’s snacks (or, as I call them, “Jack Snacks”), like goldfish and peanut butter crackers and stuff like that, I’ve been stocking up on healthier options (and also offering them to Jackson, which he usually declines), like these pistashios, which I’m now addicted to. Seriously, the sweet chili ones? Omg!
And a bonus recommendation from a reader:
“I bought this bag at a Marshall’s and have since become an avid buyer of the brand. I was looking for a carry-on and I didn’t realize it was a diaper bag (oops), but it turned out to be PERFECT for any kind of travel because it has a zillion pockets and, the best news, it’s washable.”
