Wendy’s Weekly Picks

Screen Shot 2015-04-07 at 10.44.39 AMWendy’s Weekly Picks” is a feature in which I’ll highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the stuff I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:

Asos is a clothing store than carries a fantastic collection of maternity options (at reasonable prices) that either didn’t exist when I was pregnant with Jackson or I just didn’t know about. While I’m keeping my maternity budget tight — I hate spending a lot on clothes I’ll only wear a few weeks or months — I have enjoyed buying a few new items I can wear right now that help me feel better about my expanding body. This shirt is new favorite that will be my “going out” staple (paired with grey skinny maternity jeans from the gap and heels) until it’s warm enough to rotate in a few dresses.

Asos also has lots of non-maternity clothing I love, like this amazing dress (for a steal!), these pants for spring, and this awesome jacket. And right now they’re having a special where you can save $15 on a $100 purchase, $30 on $150 and $50 on $200 (see the site for more details).

This nail polish is the perfect match-the-color-of-your-nailbed-exactly shade if you happen to be fair-skinned like I am with slightly pink-toned nails. (Nude-colored nails — whatever shade that is for you — is very on-trend this spring, fyi).

If I had a yard, which I sadly do not (one day, maybe!), I would totally get this most awesome planter of all time, park it, fill it with greens, and watch it blossom. Seriously, have you seen a cooler planter? I have not.

I love the new couch we got a couple months ago, but I’m not crazy about the pillows it came with. I’m on the hunt for something a little smaller and more comfy for leaning against and reading a book (or, probably more realistically in the near future, feeding a baby). I also need something that will go with our living room rug (which has a lot of coral and beige and slate blue), so I’m thinking this or maybe this. Or, if I wanted to drop a grand on a pillow (I don’t): this. (Feel free to make suggestions if you come across something you think would work!).

I visited a good friend last weekend and she and I splurged on facials for ourselves. It was her very first facial, but I’ve had about one a year since I got hooked after my first one right before my wedding in 2009. A product line that almost all the estheticians have used on me is Eminence. I really love the various masks, like the strawberry rhubarb one (“penetrates deep into pores to remove impurities and give skin a fresh glow”), the Hungarian Herbal Mud Treatment, and the Eminence Bright Skin Masque, which helps lighten age spots and reduce redness and irritation.

Speaking of reducing redness, I need a sun hat to protect my aging skin from the rays this spring and summer. I’m thinking this one (Imma wait and see if it goes on sale in a bit). What do you think?

I will always love a pair of Chuck Taylors, but last year, when my favorite pair finally bit the dust after a few years of wear, I replaced them with some Teva sneakers and they have been far more comfortable for the kind of city walking I tend to do (around 3-6 miles every day). I’ll save the Chucks for quick jaunts to the coffee shop down the street or short errands around the neighborhood.

The maternity clothes of today make me so happy I didn’t have a baby even 10-15 years ago. Super cute stuff!! Also, we started watching the miniseries John Adams last night and Laura Linney’s character is pregnant – man, you should see her sure to be uncomfortable maternity wear!

I love that sun hat, Wendy. If it does go on sale, can you give me a holler?? 🙂

I got this hat for a vacation in Barbados and I love it! A little more cost effective, too.
