Six Words to Describe the State of Your Love Life
A few years back, we had a lot of fun writing our Six Word Memoirs, so I thought I’d resurrect them and invite you to share new ones. Yesterday Drew and I – pictured above on my parents’ deck in Missouri last week – celebrated 14 years of marriage, so my six-word memoirs below reflect that and the life we’ve created together.
Damn! Married fourteen years this month.
A blind date success story, friends!
Long distance relationship until I moved.
(30 cross-country flights pre-move!)
Waited five months before I unpacked.
Well, I had to make him sweat.
Sidewalk chalk proposal in Central Park.
We had our wedding there too.
After three years in Manhattan, Brooklyn.
Twelve years later, it’s home now.
Our babies are almost halfway grown!
Being parents together has been great.
Middle-aged, we still dream and plan.
Love my life with this man.
Ok, your turn!
Best friends, good teamwork, hot love. Not necessarily always in that order.
Still waiting on the right one.
Married with a six month old. Getting it on when we can!
Pleasantly surprised to fall in love.
With my best friend’s cousin, AOK.
I had known him for years.
First night we talked for hours.
All about nothing and everything simultaneously.
And that is how I knew.
Life would never be the same.
Partner in crime, love life together.

Looking for work can be tough.
Watching him struggle is much harder.
bahaha, non-existent, emotionally bored, help me? 😛
We met while working at Wegmans. He worked pizza; I was cashiering. Saw each other at a bar. Dating ever since and super happy.
He’s Portuguese. I don’t understand him.
Met freshman year, dated years later,
First kissed in a fraternity stairwell,
went home with him (don’t tell).
Saw him again in Irish bar
Impressed him ordering a whisky ginger
Made my move playing card games
Got engaged in Fenway Park stands
Married in DC, honeymooned in Belize,
Moved south to start our lives.
Can’t wait to see what’s next!
One month married today, bright future
He’s the best I can imagine.
These responses make me smile =)
I absolutely, positively love the uniform. 😉
Amazed by his respect and chivalry.
Always willing to go on adventures.
Puts up with my ridiculous stubbornness.
Accepts me as crazy cat lady.
Holds doors open and carries stuff.
Picks me up in his uniform.
The dress whites are so hot.
Love getting lost in his hugs.
Dad and best friend love him.
Excited about what is to come!
Man who changed my life forever.
Took my hat, rest is history.
Comfortably content, having lots of fun.
I knew from the first date.
We laughed until the cafe closed.
Both of our cars got towed.
So much for a short meeting.
Me too, but I was wrong.
^ what a debbie downer! i’m actually not so down, so carry on all you lovey love birds, I am enjoying this!
Non-preppy in preppy world. Help.
Too busy studying. Try again later.
Married men need lives, not me.
Right now, by myself, perfectly content.
Grad school: diploma, job, girlfriend. Awesome.
So many books. So, so many.
I love your story.
They camped, and she watched futbol.
Between Germany, California, Quebec, Cleveland, Nashville
Long distance is totally worth it
Already three years and still counting
Waiting excitedly for our impending engagement! (It’ll still be a number of months though.)
We met in 2002, at work
Lots of flirting, is this happening?
One year, five months of dating
three and a half years cohabitation
in nineteen days, 7th wedding anniversary
2 beautiful daughters, one cute kitten
Been through lots, made us stronger
Nearly twelve years together! I´m old.
🙂

(Oops, that wasn’t supposed to be a reply to you, JK. But while i’m here, hi!)
Have learned to completely like myself
Waiting for the universe to provide
13 years together, 8 years married
Here is to many many more.
That relationship was an epic mistake.
Recovered and learned much about myself.
Happily single, living with my chinchilla.
I’ll eventually meet the right one!
His winks still absolutely thrill me.
Love of my life, plus two
Beating the odds, day by day
Last and very best first kiss
Still in love after 30 years.
He’s great but hides his feelings.
It’s still early, must be patient.
We both had long term relationships.
We both had our hearts broken.
I guess it’s hard trying again.
Hi Anna!!
met you on a blind date
fell in love watching baseball fireworks
broke a shotglass having sex together

I love all of these!!
We ended it. We grew together —
Both during and after. In joy.
Now, one day at a time:
In freedom, in contentment, in confidence.
Still married after all these years
Well, my cats love me (sometimes).
A Brit, an American, African safari.
Long distance, several trans-Atlantic flights.
Many many nine hour Skype calls.
Eloped in Australia, another year apart.
Second wedding with family on anniversary.
Moved to Boston, together at last.
One year later, loving life together.
Love. Love love love love love.
Why does it need to be more complicated than that?)
Birth control pills a waste lately
For once it all was easy. None of that lame ambivalent crap. Monogamous since our very first date. He came with a toddler boy. We had one 8 years later. Now I am a busy mom. Social life dwindled to other mommies. Never thought that would ever happen. It’s OK since they grow fast. I will rebuild social life soon.
Met through online dating, how modern!
Connected over wine and Splash Mountain
Married one year with a newborn
Not perfect but perfect for me
Met on an awkward blind date.
Fell in love on race track.
Beat all odds and still together.
Married with one, another on way.
I love our little pillow talks.
Can’t imagine anyone else with me.
On my own, but it’s okay
I know myself much better now
I’m trying to build my faith
That the right one will come
My heart is open to love
I have so much to give
Best sex ever (with my coworker).
Marriage is boring. Miss old us.
The timing was perfect, yet chaotic.
.
It was love at first sight.
.
Okay- love at fourth sight. Still!
.
He used all his sick days…
.
… just to spend time with me.
.
River, German pancakes, baseball, craft beer.
.
Two urinary tract infections = sexual attraction
.
At Wurstfest we danced to polka.
.
It was then that we knew.
.
Tropical destination wedding: best life decision.
.
I wish that we were immortal.
.
I wanna be in love forever.
I LOVE your last two lines 🙂
We are half a world apart.
Met through art, wooed with words.
Makes me laugh, rubs my feet.
In 67 days we’ll touch again. 🙂
He has stolen my heart forever.
It’s early, but wow, just wow!
.
Dating a nurse is so awesome
oh oh oh tell us more!
Nurses know much about the body [how’s that?]
Second time was a charm
Feel so much like myself with him
Still have my independence which I love
and our relationship has enriched my life in so many ways
We get each other and I want to compromise and do things to make him happy
Think that it is getting to be a forever type thing
Which scares me shit less, but less and less every day.
I am excited about what we will do together in the future
I finally found an adventurer to love, a free and kindred spirit
We make each other better people
I need to get laid soon.
She wouldn’t kiss me goodnight on our first date, but didn’t go home for 4 nights on our second date. 28 years later we’re still together. Her cancer has defined our life for the last 11 years and will always be there waiting. Her hips and back restrict our physical activities so we concentrate on what we CAN do. Our cats and 48 fostered kittens are a substitute for children. Retirement takes practice. The ups and downs of the stock market add drama to our life. We wonder what’s to become of us in the future.
He loves fish, I love cats.
He builds things, I grow things.
Married one whole year this month!
Love being single all by myself.
Dead and kind of loving it
👏👏
Half a century of wedded bliss
First time dating was major flop
Soul mates from start second time
Nerds who love each other’s quirks
Thousands and thousands of books, everywhere
We like to breed flowers together
Congrats on half a century – that’s very impressive! And how cool that your breed flowers.
Well blooped that, the last was me.
Newborn baby… no sleep… so tired.
Full of love… partners working together.
