New guy texted me last night to let me know he’s working 16 hour days but hoping to be going to 12 hour days soon. Oy. I didn’t say anything, just that I hoped he gets some rest soon. His birthday is Saturday and previously we had talked about doing something for his birthday (just dinner or something) and I’d love to see him again but I’m not gonna push it.
I do have a “friend” date tonight! I went on a “date” with a guy back in late February or early March, I can’t remember. He was pretty clear that he wasn’t looking for anything serious and mostly just looking for friends and he seemed like fun so I met up with him for a margarita and he was really fun. Pretty much no physical attraction but seemed like he could be a good friend to hang out with from time to time. So I have a hair appointment in his town and I texted to see if he wanted to hit a happy hour and he said yes! (He had asked me to come bar hop with him on St. Patrick’s Day but I was in Atlanta.)
So win-win, I finally get a hair cut today and meet up with a friend for a drink and get out of the house!
@Kare – i would imagine a goth fashion show has a lot of black and piercings. Am I stereotyping too much? What does one see at a goth fashion show?
@kmtthat Good luck with your nerdy guy. My nerdy guy didn’t kiss me on the first date, which I am unaccustomed to but was cool with. On the second date, I kept waiting and waiting for him to kiss me, but he only got as far as putting his arm around me, so I ended up just planting one on him. It worked pretty well. He’s so much nicer and more ambitious and more mature than the guys I normally date. So far so good.
@veritek I hope you have fun at happy hour! Plus getting a hair cut is always fun.
A goth fashion show includes many corsets for men and women, lots of victorian inspired clothing, black, leather, latex, and metal. And some drag. It’s a fun crowd. It really makes me want to buy a custom fitted corset, but I’d like to go down a dress size first.

So he ended missing his flight and cancelling his work travel this week so we are grabbing dinner tonight before I head to Miami for a long weekend. Glad to be able to see him before I go, should be fun! Trying not to overthink things.
@veritek33 how was the friend date, fun?? And too bad the new guy is working like crazy. I think you’re at least in a good mind space about it now. Just live your life, make plans, etc.
@kare that sounds like fun fashion show! We never have anything cool like that here in the middle of conservative-ville.

My friend date was great. Got my hair cut and it needed it so badly so that was awesome. We met up at a college bar next to the campus where I get my hair done and feasted on $2 appetizers and $3 beer and shot the shit for a few hours while watching baseball and people watching the college kids. (we were the oldest people there by a decade) It was good to see him again and nice to get out of the house for a night.
New guy texts me to to let me know how things are going and to say hi, which is nice. He went into work at 6 last night and was still there at 8:15 this morning. I’m tired on his behalf lol
That said, I have guests coming this weekend and I’m picking up a few extra hours at my retail job. So if he wants to hang out, it’ll just have to be arranged around that!
Can I just say I love my job? I got to go to a winery today to write a story about them and they wouldn’t let me leave without a bottle of moscato, lunch, and one of those plastic wine tumblers with a lid that you can drink wine outside with. Not date related at all, but man I love wine.

@Veritek33 So I’ve made a new personal rule to not drink any alcohol on week nights. But now I want wine.
I am so happy tomorrow is Friday.In dating news – Relationships = stressful/complicated, have been taking a break from both boyfriends, though I am seeing Physicist tonight. But mostly have been getting lots of alone time and doing spring cleaning and reading a lot.

But alone time can also be nice. I have also been spring cleaning for some reason. And sliced my finger open during the process. Ugh. It’s on the same hand where I have a scar from a second degree burn caused by syrup. Clearly cooking and cleaning are not my strong suit.
I have limited myself to one caffeinated beverage a week since finding it I have a fibroadenoma or whatever it’s called. It’s been a struggle, but my boobs hurt a lot less.
Anyone have fun weekend plans? I’m planning to work on some craft projects – mixing nail polish with pigments I ordered and a base, adding some artwork to some canvas flats, and maybe some emrodiery if I get around to it.
No real fund weekend plans here. I’m in a very deep, anxiety filled hole today worried about lots of things (parents, money, love life, work, etc). Have to buy a new furnace so picking up more hours at my part time job and considering becoming an uber driver in spare time.
Haven’t heard from new guy since Wednesday morning. Trying not to read anything more into it than he is busys working, but I wish I’d hear from him soon.
So I’ll just be doing a lot of work and cleaning and hopefully calming the fuck down in terms of my anxiety this weekend.
I’m excited for this weekend, even though there’s nothing particularly exciting happening. My best friend/ex husband is coming over tonight to hang out and grill. I had a rough, rollercoastery kind of night and didn’t get much sleep so it probably won’t be a late night.
Tomorrow a good friend of mine is having his bday party at an arcade, and that should be awesome. The rest is going to be all me-time 🙂
Veritek – sorry but I’m confused. I think you were planning to tell him this isn’t enough for you right now?
