So… I’m really excited. My ex(almost) husband and I, after nearly two years of being separated, are finally going to file the divorce paperwork next week. Neither of us have been in any particular rush to get it done, because there just wasn’t any reason to be. But it’ll be nice to finally have it taken care of. By the time it becomes official we will have been separated for longer than we were married.
We’re getting everything notarized tomorrow or Thursday and then I’ve requested a half day from work next Friday. We’re going to file the paperwork and then get celebratory drinks/dinner.
I’m really happy with what we’ve been able to turn our relationship into since we realized the romantic part didn’t work for us.
In other news, I went out with my friend last night and stayed up way too late and drank a lot of whiskey, and I somehow feel amazing today.Enjoy Austin Nookie! It’s a place high on my list of US places to visit. Basically there, Boston and Maine. I’m crossing Napa off in the fall and I’m not sure about the Southwest yet.
Stone, congrats! I’m happy you’re having a good divorce and I think it’s awesome you two are celebrating it with drinks.
Ha @ktfran, we’re going to AUSTRIA. Austin’s a bit far for me for a four day trip 🙂
That’s fantastic news @StoneGypsy, time for more celebrations and whiskey! I’m quite lucky that I’d be happy to speak to any of my ex’s again a friendly way, barring one nightmare. I always think that even though the romantic relationship didn’t work out, there’s still the chemistry as Wendy talked about in a recent article.
KMay 10, 2016 at 10:01 am #499138The being pressured to buy guns thing is also weird to me and I’m in NY. But nobody in my family has ever owned a gun that I’ve been aware of, except my dad had a BB gun.
Have a great time in Austria, @Nookie! I was there briefly 10 years ago, in Salzburg and Innsbruck. The mountains are so beautiful.
May 10, 2016 at 10:16 am #499141@Nookie That sounds like it’s going to be a great trip! I’ll cross my fingers that the weather doesn’t end up being too crap.
There are so many places I want to go and I don’t even know where to start. I want to try to visit San Diego in July for W00tStock but I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to manage that.
I have the same experience with my exes. I’d be happy to talk to any of them, except one. The friend I went out with last night is actually my other major ex (we were together/living with each other for four years). The only one that I wouldn’t have wanted to speak to ever again is actually dead :-\I’m anti-gun and pro-vacation, have a blast Nookie!
@Stonegypsy Wow you guys seem so level-headed about the whole thing. That’s so fantastic!
My update…things are fine, dude had a little emotional breakdown about things going too fast…by which he later said he really likes me and is afraid we are going too fast and it’s going to ruin things and he’ll get hurt. I asked him how he wanted to slow things down and he was like no no I don’t. I chalk up to a long night of drinking and the fact that he doesn’t date much so he’s really nervous about everything. He’s profusely apologized and if I thought it was that he wasn’t actually into me, I’d be running out the door. I think he feels like he’s TOO into me given the relatively short amount of time. I was like “we’re fine, just don’t overthink things.” But now I’m kind of nervy.
Also, I leave for Peru in two weeks!
Oh @Stonegypsy, I’ve been checking the weather every day and it is going to RAIN THE ENTIRE TIME. But that happens every year we go away for my boyfriend’s birthday, it’s getting to be a bit of a joke.
That’s sad one of your exes is dead. I had a somewhat friendly relationship with my French ex for years but then he called me up out of the blue and admitted that he omitted the truth on many assumptions I had made about him during our relationship. That was weird. Still, I’d talk to him again before the Albanian.
San Diego is lovely! We’re going back to NYC in June which I’m so looking forward to and I’d like to go skiing this winter if possible. Then a little saving I think, maybe we’ll take a big trip like China after I graduate in 2018!
