    Yeah, this guy seems nice but maybe inexperienced with dating? It came off a bit desperate/creepy. He mentioned wanting to go out again like six times before the date was over. Normally I love when a guy can read the signs that we’re both having fun and says he wants to see me again before a date is over. But this guy missed ALL the signs. I’m told I have a super expressive face, which makes hiding emotions hard, and at one point he said something I found mildly insulting. I KNEW it was written all over my face but he didn’t pick up on it. Anyway. He texted earlier this afternoon telling me how much fun he had, how charming I am, and said he can’t wait to meet my dog. 😐

    BCB says he’s feeling more or less better, so we are going out for dinner tonight.

    Dinner was nice! We went to one of my favorite neighborhood spots. It was good to see him, I had fun. I don’t know if it’s because everything with us has been so start-and-stop, but I’m kinda thinking this will either be a “slow burn” situation OR it’ll fizzle out if dates are scheduled as sporadically as they have been. And I’m okay with either and going to keep trying to meet new people. (Historically, this is about when I’d stop trying to meet new people.) We made out so… might be sick soon! The flu has been making its way around my office and I’m surprised I haven’t caught it yet.

    Late to this since I was out of town last week, but agreed on the safe, comfortable, easy feeling with my boyfriend. In the past, when there was drama, it was so exciting when the guys I liked wanted to hang out. There was more of a thrill. But then there would also be lots of let downs, worrying, etc. It’s so nice to not have any of those feelings with my boyfriend.

    @Copa I think it’s smart to keep your options open, but sounds like you’re having fun too!

    T-4 days till moving! I managed to sell about 40 items of clothing and then I donated two giant Ikea bags full of clothes to an organization helping homeless people. I also got rid of an entire drawer of electronic junk I no longer needed and recycled a ton of old papers and other random things. I used to be such a pack rat. It really feels soooo good to get rid of unnecessary things! I’ve been really stressed trying to get all this done during a really busy time at work, but Banjo has been very supportive and helped me pack a ton of stuff.

    I’m very excited for living together, and as we make decisions about furniture and stuff like that it feels like we’re starting to build a life together. I’ve never lived with a partner before so I also recognize that it’s going to be a big change for me and there will be some adjusting but I also know we’ll be good together.

    @lucia_la Sounds like a fun, exciting (though maybe nerve-wracking) time! I’m a pack rat and feel kinda jealous of your purge. I always mean to set aside the time to do something like that on a weekend, but when I only get two days to myself every week, that’s pretty much the last thing I want to do. I think I’d need something like a move to get down to business.

    @copa, yay to good dinner!

    So exciting @lucie_la! I try to Kendofy my life now and then. Clothes I can purge. Books are sort of ok but I find her style a little heartless, haha. Once I get to papers though I just stop. Like bank statements from ten years ago. How did you do it!? Sentimental, yes and no. I got rid of a lot of cards, but letters from high school… I don’t look at them until I try and purge so clearly they don’t matter but sigh. I try and keep those things contained in one bag/box though.`

    BoF and I went through all of my my seldom used electronics, cabling, and random crap this weekend and it was almost physically painful to get rid of stuff. We had been waiting until our built-in cabinetry was completed to reorganize and I was dreading it and I was right to dread it.

    Purging is AWESOME. We do it every time we move so that’s 6 purges in 6 years or so. After my husband moved I went through the whole house washing walls, doors and windows, reorganised the kitchen and spare room, cleaned out my closet and washed everything I was keeping again. It feels so nice. One thing I didn’t do was clean out the kitchen drawers. That feels kind of like a wormhole I don’t particularly want to open….

    Purging is something I’ve been putting off for a loonngg time. Moving is pretty much the only thing that can motivate me to do it (and last time I moved I ran out of time and ended up lugging over a bunch of crap I didn’t need to my new place, so that gave me extra motivation not to repeat my mistakes). I do think Marie Kondo is a little over the top but some things work really well. Like the idea that having fewer clothes actually makes you feel like you have a bigger wardrobe because when you open the closest it’s all legitimate, good outfit options rather than lots of meh stuff you never really want to wear. I lost 35 lbs last year and had essentially a whole wardrobe that’s too big. Maybe part of me was still hanging on to some of that in case I gained some back. Well, I just sold or donated ALL of it, so that’s some more motivation to get my ass back in gear after all the holiday eating, haha.

    I have the habit of holding on to lots of random things “just in case.” You guys know those ear bud cover thingies? Like when you get new head phones and they give you some in different sizes in case they don’t fit in your ears? Banjo was laughing so hard at me because he found, no joke, 12 pairs of those while helping me sort through stuff. How do I have so much useless stuff? Purging is a mental game, I always *could* make time for it but find it so overwhelming that I usually quit quickly. Banjo came over several times and we drank beers while doing it so it was much less painful this time around!

    For the last four years, since I bought my house I have rented a dumpster bin and gone through my home, top to bottom and I throw out anything that is broken/garbage/lawn waste/clean out fridge, freezer and pantry. I am always surprised that I fill up a small-medium sized bin. It’s a big task but everything gets organized and cleaned up. It’s amazing how much shite you accumulate.
