I’m 40 and pretty smart, at least I would hope any long term reader of this site would think so. I’m not an idiot and have mentioned half a billion times I’m in therapy. I think if you were at all concerned about my “safety” you’d probably be less sarcastic and biting to me. I haven’t been rude. Peanut gallery wasn’t nice, but I’m counting myself there and to my knowledge no one here is a therapist or probably has the lengthy experiences in therapy’s like I do, but what do I know?

@Rangerchic, how fun!! We’re also doing an Alaskan cruise this summer, but not until June/July. We’re going with my parents and my in-laws. They all get along great, so should be a good time.
And @Copa, we’re doing Antarctica Jan 2025 for my 45th. We’re going on a ship that’s only for like 240 people. We’re booking that by mid-February.
In 2022, we did Galapagos for the husband’s 40th. That ship hosted 100 people.
I’m not a cruise person either, but there are certain trips where it makes sense. The only other on my bucket list is a German river cruise in December for Christmas market hopping.
Copa, who was the Tik tok gal who mentioned Dear Wendy? A couple weeks ago, there were two or three old columns that I posted on FB over the course of ten days or so that really riled ppl up. I haven’t had so many people call me terrible things since like 2014 before the first mass exodus of DW commenters. I wonder if the Tik Tok gal chose one of those columns (I’m betting yes).
It’s funny, because I pick a few old columns every day to edit and get ready to post on Fb (and posting there once a day gets me thousands and thousands of views here, so it’s worth my time!). Sometimes the advice I gave ten years ago is so different than what I would say now. I usually will re-write my advice to better reflect the wisdom I’ve gained and how the culture has changed, but sometimes there are still some columns, even after I edit, that don’t pass the vibe check, I guess, especially with Gen Z. 🥴
I know some comments got deleted, so if I looked like I was talking to myself here earlier… I was not. Haha.
But, anyway, Mel Hamlett is the content creator. She shows up on my FYP often. She said you give “pretty good advice” but if I had to guess she wishes you’d been less compassionate in the delivery. She didn’t so much comment on the advice you gave, just rehashed the letter and gave her own take on why the LW’s boyfriend was a liar and probably still married. @ktfran I know it’s a ways a way but please report back after Antarctica. I wasn’t that interested in going there until a couple years ago. One of our neighbors just went and said it was incredible.This is the first year in quite a few that we have no warm weather excursions planned for winter and it’s kind of a bummer. Tomorrow’s high of 19 might feel balmy after the past few days, so at least there’s that.

A friend is going with us. Her last two continents to hit are South America and Antarctica. We’re her only friends that will be doing this trip (Antarctica), so she’s coming with! We actually also asked the gentlemen we met on our Galapagos trip, but the timing doesn’t work out. They were so much fun and make great vacation friends.
We always make friends on these big trips. The husband still exchanges texts with someone we met in Italy last summer.
I have to go to Austin at the end of the month for work and am staying a couple days extra. Besides that, we’re not leaving until our annual Hilton Head trip in the spring.

I went on an Alaskan cruise with my family when I was in high school. I think I generally had a good time but it must be different now.
We also don’t have travel plans this year. Last year was a big travel year with Europe in the spring and Hong Kong in the fall. I’d like to go to New Orleans or New York.
Wendy, I am so sorry to hear about your scary experience with Drew and hope he is doing better every day. I noticed that you mentioned you are meeting with a psychic who is also an author – Victoria, yes? I’ve had her read me twice if so. She is super nice. I’d be interested to hear what you think. Her books are fun too. I suppose it could be someone else, but somehow I doubt it. She offers classes in developing abilities, so you might like that too.
