For the sake of argument though, would telling the landlord the tenants are smoking in the house put them in jeopardy? I would think the landlord would just, idk, give them a warning about smoking, right? Not involve police. Or am I being naive?
Yeah, you could try to talk to them in a friendly way, but would they take you seriously? Would they then be very pissed at you if you had to end up escalating it to the landlord anyway? Because to the earlier point, then they know it was you.
Brief anti-climatic update:
I had to travel for work extensively and didn’t say anything before I left and then they were gone for a couple of weeks after I got back. They’ve been back for about a week now while I’m there and – no more weed smell!
Best guess is that I had the property manager supervising some work being done in the unit while I was gone and they smelled it (how could they not!?) and addressed it with them.
Anyway, problem solved and put one in the plus column for procrastination!
