@dearwendy, if this current illness isn’t COVID, will you be able to get an antibody test to see if what you had previously or back over New Years was it?
Grant park around 1030 was surprisingly rule following, but I agree, the walkers are the worst. Runners are fine. Maybe 25% wearing masks but the rest of us were keeping our distance and zigzagging. I would agree on the mask-wearing at least in Chicago… people I see take more risks getting closer to others.
April 29, 2020 at 9:19 am #884857really? our pediatrician used one two weeks ago during our well visit
April 28, 2020 at 9:42 am #884759One of my favorite, most colorful people at work just had a massive heart attack this morning. He didn’t make it :(. I’m so sad. I broke the 6 ft rule and hugged a dear friend. It’s all too much
April 25, 2020 at 1:01 pm #881466Mmm sounds like a lovely morning, BGM.
MaterialsToddler and I mAde peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies. They turned out delicious and she did a great job helping: especially with the hand mixer!
April 23, 2020 at 10:32 pm #881344Yea I feel the same way @ktfran. We’ll see how the rebuild goes after more restrictions are lifted. I hope Lightfoot gives a reprieve on the lakefront MidMay if we do indeed start a downturn in the curve. (So many people! Need a little more space), but we shall see.
April 23, 2020 at 3:10 pm #881296@copa:
-we’re on SAH until May 30.
-BUT..surgeries and elective stuff can reopen as long as they meet guidelines for testing/distancing
-garden centers and greenhouses can open
-nonessential businesses can now do online orders and curbside/deliveries
-masks must be worn if 6 ft cannot be kept (so. grocery stores for example)
-phasing in of state parks
-some slight modifications for manufacturers (full details not available, but shift staggering etc)April 23, 2020 at 2:55 pm #881291watching Pritzker’s announcement. I think it’s a good mix of here’s how our data is coming together, here’s what we know and how it affects our decision making, here’s what we need to do and here’s what can open and where our priorities are
April 22, 2020 at 1:47 pm #881183not all of it I agree with (salons etc), but it was nice to see republicans giving credit to Pritzker and his team for good communication throughout this. and the acknowledgement of the decisions at hand (and that it will probably differ by region). That at least gives me hope that whatever extension is put in place will have support from both sides in an effort to continue to keep people safe.
Did anyone read Wisconsin’s governor’s clapback at the republicans suing him? too funnyApril 22, 2020 at 10:53 am #881139The last thing myself or anyone wants in Chicago is to have a free-for-all. Maybe give us a few more open outdoor spaces where social distancing can happen. Who knows. Whatever is announced, I will continue to comply and minimize risk, I just know that a lot of the delay in announcing the continuation is because the governor wants people to know that he is empathetic to their economic and health plights. That the city of Chicago’s struggle is different than downstates struggle. We have been successful at pushing the apex back, that’s a good thing and hopefully will continue to push back/flatten/reduce. The initial motivation for the lockdown got a lot of compliance, now we’re in stage two of the psychological struggle to keep it up.
So no, don’t worry, I’m not rushing out to get a haircut or do anything other than stay home, go to work when I need to, get exercise, go to doctor.
April 21, 2020 at 4:41 pm #881065@ktfran: yeah I was hoping for some light reprieves come May 1 (and I do think that can still happen.. nothing major.. just a few things) and then steadily from there. I think there’s something to giving people a little hope and freedom to keep them sane but compliant
April 20, 2020 at 8:49 am #880891Decently productive weekend (and certainly a break in the weather!). It was nice to have RadioStar home and on primary parenting duty on Sunday so I could run solo and not worry about being in two places at once.
Today: it’s not even 9 am and I feel like I’ve been wrangling my toddler for five hours already.Been loving the desert flowers, @BGM. So beautiful. You really have a knack of cultivating beauty.
