So we had a blizzard here on Wednesday. Sustained winds of 50+ MPH and gusts up to nearly 90 MPH! It was crazy. Back to work today though. Glad the blizzard didn’t last to long as I didn’t go to the store (who wants to fight that crowd?) and am now nearly out of everything.
Other than having some company Saturday evening, nothing else going on here.
Good luck to your mom @Vertek. I hope it goes well. Knee surgery sucks for sure – sorry she has to go through that. That is def one surgery to avoid if possible but I understand it isn’t always possible.
March 11, 2019 at 2:45 pm #836507@Copa – same for me! (on keeping sugary treats to a minimum). There’s a few things I find to sweet…soda being one of them but I never really drank a lot of it to begin with. I still love sweet tea though! Being from the south it needs to be sweet (though I do actually like unsweet ice tea and I don’t like it to sweet unlike most people I know from the south).
@JD – glad he got a day off! My husband has been working 6 days a week since December. And this project is not set to be done soon so likely to continue for a few more months at least. No weekend trips in the near future and I’m itching to get out of town for at least a weekend. Guess it’ll have to wait.March 11, 2019 at 12:51 pm #836466Your cake is beautiful! But, you didn’t get to eat at your own shower? That’s some kind of awful. And sorry it wasn’t a good shower for you. That sucks.
We are having company this weekend…I think I’m going to make a cake. Maybe. Or homemade ice cream. But overall been doing pretty good on not having to much sugar since going off W30. I was hoping to not like it (sugar) as much but I just really like sugar.
March 11, 2019 at 11:20 am #836443When I got married, just over 20 years ago, I had a wedding shower put on by my husband’s side of the family but we both attended. We were young and it was nice but I don’t think I still have anything from that shower. Oh wait, they also did a pampered chef shower/party and I still have my apron that everyone signed. I actually think that was the most special item. And I still have one of the pampered chefs baking stone.
I too am in need of a good chef’s knife. I have a couple from target but they don’t stay sharp long and I cook a lot so it would be a good investment.
Sorry about your mouse scare@L! One time, we had this cat I noticed was playing with something and so I went to investigate. It was a mouse! A live one. And it was def playing with it. The mouse was sitting very still and the cat was about 2 feet away watching. But the mouse wouldn’t move. I’m sure it was scared to death. I don’t recall how we got rid of it. But we never had another mouse. So – get a cat! haha 🙂
March 7, 2019 at 4:57 pm #834991@Copa – you might try and see if you can get samples from some of your local pet stores. Also, I know PetSmart is a chain but the people who work there can be helpful. They don’t carry the brand I use but I was asking about the food samples they had out. She asked what food I currently use – she said it was a good brand and she couldn’t really sale me anything better (that they carry). It does have grain in it (I think rice) just not corn, wheat or soy. I think one of those is what upset my little one’s stomach.
March 7, 2019 at 3:43 pm #834968We are feeding Canidae dry – the one for senior dogs. When our little one went through…something where she was vomiting all the time we started giving them some canned food (with dry). And I think that is when they put on a lot of weight. So using that up (where they only get it once a week) and then sticking to dry.
I’ve also started hearing that grain-free isn’t necessarily better. I too feel like what JD said. The Vet on Saturday said the food didn’t have to be low-fat or anything, nor grain-free. So I’ve been considering finding a different one but so far this one doesn’t upset little dog’s stomach so probably will just stick with it.
Also, when I first took away the canned food, the little dog refused to eat for around 24 hours herself. But she got hungry enough she decided the hard food was better than no food.
March 7, 2019 at 2:31 pm #834949On dogs – our little one goes through spurts where she does really well for months with no overnight potty breaks and then she’ll have a couple of weeks where she has to go out every single night. IDK why that is but we just deal with it. They both went to the vet last Saturday and both need to loose weight. I’ve cut back on the food but I feel like they are starving! I already had cut back some. I debate with myself saying they are happy to well they need to be healthy. Arg.
I am so ready for spring. It keeps snowing on the damn weekends and then proceeds to mostly melt during the week but it’s making it hard to get the dogs out for walks.
Anyone ever made snow ice cream? It’s pretty awesome.
March 1, 2019 at 12:45 pm #834174Forgot – congrats @K! I don’t think I recall reading you got engaged (or I forgot). Either way congrats again!
March 1, 2019 at 12:44 pm #834172Eek, I did our taxes last night and we have to pay in for the first time ever! And it’s not a small amount (to me) either 🙁 We were thinking of getting some new carpet soon but now have to put it off a little while to pay off the damn government. Kind of pisses me off. We’ve always had my husbands withholdings as “married but withhold at higher single rate”. And still have to pay in. We don’t make that much money!
February 27, 2019 at 4:28 pm #833965I learned to drive a stick before automatic because my dad thought it would be good to know how to drive a stick. I actually ended up LOVING driving one! But here with all the snow/hills I’m glad to have an automatic.
And before I got a car as a kid, I would drive my friends around in my parents minivan. Once I was out driving my friends (all around 16). There were 6 of us. Ended up with some vodka (I was driving so didn’t partake as I was scared to death of getting caught). But someone stupidly spilled nearly the entire bottle in the carpet of the van. Sigh… So we took it to a car wash and washed the outside and put a bunch of that car scent stuff on the floors explaining to my parents that I wanted to clean it as a thank you for letting me borrow it. I think they bought it as I never heard word otherwise.
February 27, 2019 at 1:54 pm #833950We have the same problem with truck drivers here! Actually drivers here super assholes as everyone here is a super aggressive driver no matter the weather so even though I have an AWD I try to stay home the days the roads are bad (scraping/clearing roads is a joke here). I DO NOT trust the other drivers here. There were a lot of traffic deaths last year from all the crashes…so much so that the police are putting out drive safe ads on the radio.
