    @Kate – no I’ve never been. And I’m sure it’s a shitshow (traffic and crowds)! But I’m willing to deal with traffic and (small) crowds for certain things. I love fall and I love halloween. And I also love historical places. Maybe you should try the museum as an adult now and you won’t feel so traumatized anymore! I’ll take note of the tiki boat – that sounds like fun!

    @Fyodor
    – I agree! That’s why right now I’d rather plan travel to places that require the vaccine which I think is mostly outside the US except Hawaii which does require the vaccine or a negative test.

    @Vathena
    – I would love that but sadly, I think you are right in that it won’t go anywhere.

    Hey at BGM, welcome to Colorado! I live in the Springs and mostly avoid Denver unless I have to fly or if there is something really cool going on. We are in a heatwave too so, that’s awesome…not. Last year at this time we had snow. I’m ready to turn off my AC and for the temperatures to be a lot cooler.

    I didn’t mind flying in May when I went to see family in Arkansas…both flights were completely full. I was kind of surprised. But most people on the way there were very compliant..it was on the way back that they weren’t as much. Weird. I really wanted to fly to Boston and go to Salem for Halloween this year but I missed my opportunity to book a place in Salem. And then there’s Delta and I was kind of glad I didn’t get it booked.

    I’m ready for a vacation. We were planning on Hawaii in June of 22 back when it looked like COVID would get under control. I laugh now at how naive I was. I can’t decide if I should plan it or not now. Sad face 🙁

    I wish all companies would require the vaccine. Maybe we could actually reach heard immunity that way. My oldest daughter got a new job and they are requiring her to get vaccinated. Finally. It was really hard for me to believe this person, that I raised, could fall for some of the vaccine hoaxes out there. I tried talking to her about it, but I would just get angry. Anyway, at least she’ll be vaccinated now.

    I have crohn’s so I have had two colonoscopy’s in the last 10 years (I’m 45 and almost due for another one). The prep is way worse than the procedure. The 2nd one, I had different prep ingredients and it was way worse than the 1st time. It involved gatorade. By the time it got to the end of the prep, I just could not take another drink. I nearly vomited just thinking about having to take another drink (not that there was anything left anyway). The procedure went fine but afterwards there is all this gas buildup and it has to come out…it was painful for me. Hope your procedure goes smoothly @lisforleslie!

    And @Kate the drugs are amazing…too bad they don’t last longer 🙂

    Glad your feeling better today @Ange.

    I feel ya on your friend @ladyE. I have a sister who I thought was vaccinated and she just told me she’s just now getting it! At least she finally came around and, I hope, got the vaccine.

    Sorry to hear about your boyfriend @Copa. I hope he has a speedy recovery and you don’t end up with it too.

    I feel like I’m treading water mostly just waiting to get it even though I’m vaccinated, I am immunodeficient. I feel lucky and somewhat surprised I haven’t gotten it so far. I do mask up all places now and back to doing take-out but I work at a college so I feel like it’s just a matter of time. Also, I think I’m back to a low-grade depression because of all the shit…I was feeling so much better and hopeful earlier in the summer and that’s kind of all out the window.

    Yes to everything being on backorder! When we had to order a new fridge earlier this year (the compressor went out on our 5 year old fridge and it was already replaced once) it took two weeks. That doesn’t sound like a long time unless your living out of coolers!

    We recently just purchased a new mattress too. At first it was 4-6 weeks. Then a few days later I got a call that it will be 6-8 weeks! I’m so looking forward to our new mattress and hopefully my back won’t hurt in the mornings anymore.

    Then, my husband said (about the mattress) – that’s the last big purchase for a while right? Of course he jinxed us LOL 🙂 Because the next day (literally) our AC quit working. Sigh….

    I’m back working in the library at the college I work at. At first, it was no masks required which was nice. Everyone has to be vaccinated, plus there were hardly any people here. As of Friday, masks are again required, vaccinated or not (we also have a few programs that started up today which means there are more students on campus). Sigh…I’d rather be working from home where I can breath. School gets really busy here in the beginning and I don’t have an office (just a huge desk in the middle of the floor). I’m not comfortable with a plethora of students just hanging out together.

    Congrats @hfantods! I don’t recall the area you live in but finding any place to buy in Colorado (Springs or Denver areas) is a nightmare at the moment. My daughter and her husband finally found a good deal on a townhouse and hopefully close Monday.

    My husband and I have thought about selling because the market is so good right now but I don’t want to move again until we decide our next life adventure and where it will be. But I hope the market holds for when we do sale!

    I’m mostly going no mask now except at the grocery stores (not sure why I still feel I need to wear one there but I do). We go out to eat some but mostly at odd times so the restaurants aren’t too busy. I’m slowly coming back to the school where I work and not wearing a mask as vaccines are a requirement to be here. And it’s summer so fairly quiet.

    However, there are crazies still out there with getting the vaccine. On the news, I saw a person carrying a sign that said “I identify as immune”. Ok then.

    Then, my daughter works at Home Depot. She had a guy come in asking where the no trespassing signs are. He needs a few because he heard Biden was going to come (or send troops) to everyone who won’t get vaccinated. Hahahahaha – where do people get their news?!?!

    I had my second dose Pfizer last Thursday. I was feeling ok when I went to bed and then I had intense arm pain, so much so I didn’t really sleep. Then Friday morning started the body aches, chills, shivering – kind of like a mild flu. I took some Tylenol which broke the fever but then I would just be super hot and sweat. Once it wore off back to the other symptoms. Oh, and a headache. Got a little more sleep Friday night and was pretty good except for lingering arm pain by mid-morning Saturday. My arm STILL hurts today though it is getting better. It was all worth it! 🙂

    Oh – and everyone in my department (we are still working from home) all have had at least the first shot and everyone talks about it. We will likely have to go back to in-office setting this fall when school starts up as they are planning on bringing the majority of students back with vaccine requirements (we are a private school so it’s easier for us to make that kind of requirement). I’m glad for that but it still makes me nervous as the area I work in generally gets super crowded and busy in the afternoons. Not sure how we are going to work that out and being immunocompromised the vaccine is less effective for me though i do feel much better about having it!
