I fell off the face of the earth, but happy wedding @hfantods! And neighbors are the worst part of home ownership.
But the real reason I’m here – this thread started on July 24, 2015. I missed its birthday by two days, but our little thread baby is old enough to be in elementary school now.
Also, I have a 16-month-old so my life is no longer my own. Hope you’re all well!
@Copa I usually use Tresseme but my hair is so long now that I’m wanting to wear my natural curl more often so that I dont’ have to dry/straighten it so much. And with midwest humidity I need to try something that will kill the frizz so I decided to splurge and try it. We’ll see how it does for my curls!
@MG I have not! I’m 11 weeks postpartum and still nursing/taking prenatal vitamins and the nurses said it might not happen until I stopped the prenatals. My hair is the thickest and longest it’s every been.
HOWEVER, my skin is so different after having this nugget. I’m breaking out more than i have since I was a teenager. I got lulled into complacency with my extremely low maintenance good skin before this baby.
@Fyodor – I didn’t mean for it to be quite so eventful lol. But looking back, my life was very very different when this thread started! Worth it though to be where I am now.
@LisforLeslie – her cheeks now take up approximately 74% of her body and she’s the greatest human ever and our tiny baby bff.Unfortunately I have nothing to add to the hair tool conversation as I’m just now back to doing my hair on a daily basis after maternity leave. I just wanted to pop in and say hi! My kid spent 3 weeks in the NICU but now she’s a little healthy 9 pound butterball and life is good.
And my husband and I have concert tickets for an outdoor concert in September now that we are fully vaccinated so that might be our first real date as parents of an infant this year!
Hi everybody. This is not relevant dating at all but I just wanted to let you know I had our daughter last Friday. She came six weeks early and she is in the in NICU right now. I figured her dear Wendy family would like to know and maybe be able to send her some good thoughts.
My water broke Monday evening March 15 and I was immediately admitted to the hospital where they tried to keep me from having the baby. She decided she was going to come on Friday no matter what after four days of labor right before our first wedding anniversary. She’s doing really well but she can’t come home until she learns how to eat, which she’s working hard at.
Also, I get my first vaccine dose today. That’s one step closer to life going back to normal so I can bring my baby home to meet her grandparents.
@MG I might try to get ten weeks. Through our Short term disability I get 3 weeks fully paid, 3-5 weeks at 60% pay, and then however much PTO I have saved up – which by my due date will be about three weeks. Either way it never seems like enough.
Back to the vaccine – I did have one friend get the pfizer vaccine and she said she felt like she was dying and considered not getting the second one. But she’s also super dramatic, literally she does all the theater productions and such locally, so I take her review with a grain of salt.
My parents – 65 and 67 – both had no reaction to the first shot (pfizer). I had more of a reaction to my whooping cough vaccine than they did to their shots. And these are two diabetics and one has heart problems. I’m curious to see if they react to the second shot.
My boss has a BMI over 40 so she qualified through our workplace to get the shot, also pfizer, and has had both shots with no reaction.
My parents were also supposed to get their second shot today but because of delays/extreme weather in Missouri it’s been delayed. At least we got plenty of notice for them.
MG I hope your first days back from maternity leave aren’t too bad! How long did you take? I think I’m going to get about 8 weeks which just doesn’t seem long enough but ya know, mortgage and bills and stuff.
Anyone having any fun stay at home Valentine’s this weekend? My husband has been planning some sort of fancy at home dinner (researching recipes and such – he’s a very good cook) for our first “married valentine’s day.” It’s very sweet and he won’t tell me what we are having, just that I have to show up in our dining room on Sunday evening and we have sparkling Rose.
Also, SIL’s Disney wedding is officially cancelled. They plan to still get married but not at Disney. As awful as she’s been to me, I do feel bad for her that she’s not getting her dream. But agree it was time to move on from that particular dream.
