I mean, I did go on some awesome dates, along with some really bad ones. Learned something from all of them, and now I’m pretty darn happy so I guess it worked out!

MofV and I are going to do a drive thru Christmas light tour this weekend as our date since we really haven’t left the house to do anything besides work lately. We figured we could pack some coffee or hot cocoa and just enjoy the lights as a covid safe activity.

Also, for those that commented not to use retinol while pregnant – no worries. I literally have no skin care routine to speak of, which is sad. I wash my face with apricot scrub in the shower, and cetaphil at night and slap on some moisturizer and call it a day. And rarely wear makeup. So I’m sure after BofV (baby of Veritek) arrives I’ll have to step up my game.

I truly don’t know much about skin care because so far I’ve been pretty lucky with the condition of mine, but I have used Neutrogena SPF 50 moisturizer since I was in my 20s every single day and I often get compliments on my complexion. And as a redhead, Lady E, the stronger the SPF the better I suppose.

Oh I’m so sorry Fyodor! I hope the Bride recovers quickly. I was fortunate mine was a mild case but was still pretty rough and I’m still experiencing some headaches. I hope Spawn and Hound and you are doing well as you can.

@Copa when I compared the screen shot of the virtual try on to a picture of the actual ring on my finger – damn near identical. So I’d say it’s a pretty accurate tool if you go that route! You choose skin tone, hand size, etc. It was fun to play with.

    Congratulations hfantods!! Tell us more!

@Copa BG’s mom has a legit fear. We aren’t even going to try to do anything next year. MofV’s cousin got married in a small ceremony and they’ve already declared the party won’t be until 2022. We are considering doing a vow renewal at 5 years in 2025 so by then maybe everyone will be caught up? lol

Also, if conflict free diamonds appeal to you at all – brilliantearth.com has a virtual try on feature and I think there’s also a show room in Chicago. It’s how we designed my ring – lab created diamonds and gems is their specialty and I have a lab created emerald.

We ordered Thanksgiving catering from a local grocery store and it turned out quite well. With pregnant+covid I just did not have the energy to do a full thanksgiving meal of cooking like I usually do. It was a good decision and the perfect amount of food.

The weather was also nice enough we were able to swing by my parents and share pie on the patio so we weren’t closed up in the house together. We are no longer contagious or shedding the virus but wanted to be careful and it was nice to see them after a long time apart.

Today I have what was supposed to be my 16 week OB appointment on my 18th week since it was postponed – so I’m eager to hear the nugget’s heartbeat and get an update on her!

Fortunately (or unfortunately no matter how you look at it) my case was relatively mild. I’ve had headaches my entire pregnancy but the day before I tested I had a really bad one, and the next morning I woke up with sore throat. I’ve been pretty vigilant since being pregnant so I called my doc and asked what I should do. She and I both figured it was just a cold but she sent me to a drive thru test site at the university hospital and 6 hours later I got a call that it was positive. Our health department is so slammed right now I never got a call and there was no contact tracing. My husband went to an urgent care 2 days later and tested positive.

The crazy thing is the range of symptoms. I never got a fever. I never had a temp above 99, but I had crazy headaches, borderline dehydration, a cough and severe fatigue and lost my sense of smell. My husband had a fever of 101 for three days, no cough or loss of smell or taste. His mom lost both smell and taste and described it as mild cold symptoms. His dad tested positive and still, two weeks later, hasn’t shown any symptoms.

So it goes to show just how widely varied everyone’s experience can be with this. Though we haven’t seen his parents since September and they clearly got it in a different way than we did.

As for teachers in this state, our Governor clearly doesn’t give a shit about them and is the same governor that said kids get covid and then get over it so let’s keep schools open. That was before a 13 year old died of covid in rural Missouri. So yeah, what we are doing to teachers and students is criminal.

Masks are required in my office. For employees. Customers have not been forced to wear them. I am not in a directly customer facing position but it’s not hard for me to imagine how a customer could’ve came in without a mask and spread their germs and that’s how my husband and I got it.

Luckily I haven’t seen my parents in almost a month and they have somehow managed to escape this virus so far. My husband‘s parents got it separately but they live in a much more densely populated area and have also been still working in office.

Well, I’m sure there will be some judgement and speculation, but I got Covid 19 and tested positive not quite two weeks ago.

Didn’t get it from the gym. Didn’t get it from a restaurant. Didn’t get it from any socializing or spending time with friends, etc.

I got it from work. Because I was not given the option to work from home until I actually tested positive. If I had been given the option to work from home, I would have used it, especially during my pregnancy – but it simply wasn’t presented as an option since I work for an “essential business.”

I’m fine now, my baby is fine, but my husband and I both got it and we are 100% certain we got it from work. So unless we didn’t want to pay our bills, we had to go. Which goes to show, we can wear masks all day at work and still get this damn virus. Now, that doesn’t mean i won’t continue wearing a mask and advocating for people to wear their mask, it means I believe I got it from someone not wearing a mask! I hope no one else has to experience this – it hasn’t been fun.

Also, MG, congratulations on your son 🙂

@Copa we have two huge garage doors and if they’re open on a nice day I always try to get a spot by the door so that I can get as much fresh air as possible. I also just always feel short of breath now that I’m pregnant. Maybe not all the time, but a lot, and it’s a fun mental game to play during covid. Is this a cold/pregnancy symptom/covid symptom/am I just crazy?

@DearWendy masks are not required at my gym but they are also not required in my city or county. The city and county I work in requires them.

That said, people have worn masks to the gym and no one has said a word about it. I tried a few times and when the workout really got going it did seem harder to breathe (probably in my head only) so I usually post myself up in a corner far away from people just to be safe.

@hfantods I belong to a CrossFit gym so it’s a bit different. It’s a 9,000 square foot building and the class I typically go to has about five participants so we have A LOT of room to spread out. All the weights and equipment are sanitized between classes and they deep clean the place every Sunday. No high fives, fist bumps, hugs etc. Partner WODS use separate equipment so we don’t have to touch the same weights.

I honestly feel more safe and comfortable in my gym than many other places because I’ve see first hand how much cleaning and distancing goes into it. The only exception is when my husband and I go work out at the same class we are typically closer to one another than any other participants.

I don’t think I’d feel comfortable going to a traditional gym right now. I haven’t been in more than a week because a member did test positive and she didn’t get it from the gym but being pregnant it just didn’t seem like a great idea to be going right now. I’ll probably feel more comfortable later this week or next week returning. The owners have been very transparent about keeping us informed and enforcing the rules.
