Updates: “Fast-Track Bride” Responds
It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing today. After the jump, we hear from “Fast-Track Bride” who had just taken an out-of-state job and decided to elope with her fiancé — rather than wait until their original wedding date — do he could get on her insurance. Her question was how to share this elopement news with their friends and extended family. After the jump, find out what they decided to do.
In the end, it worked out perfect for us; we’re married and very happy and we don’t have to stress over health insurance. My husband is a diabetic and we were stressed over the idea of paying for medications and were afraid he would need to go to the hospital and we wouldn’t be able to afford the bills. We’re planning on having a renewal of our vows to celebrate our one year anniversary and inviting everyone we so very much wanted to be able to celebrate with this year. We’re both still feeling so very lucky and very loved! My advice for anyone else in this situation is be honest, you’d be surprised how understanding (most) family and friends are. In the end, they just want to see you happy and be able to celebrate with you. I stressed way too much, thankfully not for very long, over how they might react. Thank you again!
Yay, congratulations and best wishes to you both! Good luck at your new job and enjoy being a newlywed!!
If you’re someone I’ve given advice to in the past, I’d love to hear from you, too. Email me at [email protected] with a link to the original post, and let me know whether you followed the advice and how you’re doing now.
Congratulations!!
Yay sounds like a perfect day and you will be able to celebrate in a big way next year!
