@Moneypenny What? That’s kind of ridiculous. “Not willing to walk around a city barefoot for a day” seems like a bizarre dealbreaker.
I’m really disappointed about the guy who stood me up. Like, I’m still not sure what happened. We had plans, he was supposed to text me when he was done with his other thing, and then he just never did. I was disappointed. Our conversations had been enjoyable up to that point.@sms Maybe just go out on a date or answer a message with someone that’s just so-so to get some practice and get back out there? Either way, you just do what you’re comfortable with.
@Moneypenny that’s the most bizarre dealbreaker ever. Like, sandals all day long sure – tetnus and broken glass no. Just no.You guys, I cleaned my living room and kitchen over lunch break on the off chance HamSandwich takes me up on my offer to see my house/meet the dogs and stress cleaning always helps. Took my mind off it for a bit AND my living room is clean now.
The bedroom is a disaster so if any hankypanky takes place, it’ll be living room bound.
July 29, 2015 at 3:23 pm #369700@Kicia, Coffee meets Bagel is a dating app- you get one match per day, and you can either “like” or “pass.” If they “like” you, you connect and are able to text each other- but only for 1 week. If you don’t pass or like your match within 24 hours, you get another one the next day. It’s a bit like Tinder in that sense, but I like it more because you are limited in how many people you can like at a time, and if you really want to talk to them, you have to do it before the line expires. Plus, I’ve found guys to be more interested in meeting up for an actual date, rather than hookup/anything goes for Tinder. I haven’t had a match in a week or so until this guy (I’ve passed on a bunch in a row) so it’s been pretty quiet for me lately, but I’ve gone on 4 dates from it since beginning of June.
Hand to God, I have to share this story. My co worker can corroborate.
We just went for a walk to the capitol and to do that you pass HamSandwhich’s office building, which is huge. And I thought I maybe saw him out of the corner of my eye walking with a group of girls holding drink cups from the local restaurant. But I wasn’t sure so I didn’t’ wave and just kept talking to my co worker. As soon as we got around the corner i heard a girl shout “kiss her!”
I confirmed with my co worker that this did in fact happen. WTF? I’m still laughing about this. Think she had tourettes and it was just unrelated?
TheLadyEJuly 29, 2015 at 4:42 pm #369713OK you guys, sorry I haven’t replied in awhile, things got busy with work!
@veritek, good luck!! You’ll be great and we all want an update! I really hope he kisses you!
I actually have something almost identical happening tonight: Hippie Artist Guy is coming to my house for the first time! We’ve been out 7 times, usually on Sundays, but once for a drink during the week.
We usually sit and talk for like 4 hours and wish we could talk more. It’s been super informal and not structured really – we just go to a place where we can sit and have a drink and talk. Except when we went to the movies, which was fun too.
I am almost in an identical position as @vertiek in that:
a) I’m not sure if he is into me or not. He is introverted and he does sometimes flirt/do things that make me think he is into me but sometimes we just talk about writing for 2 hours straight rather than getting to know each other.
b) I have let him take the lead on every date and he continues to reach out wanting to get together, but usually I end up suggesting and/or planning something specific. He will just wait a day or two after we see each other and say “let’s get together again, here’s when I’m free” and then we do.
c) He has never made a move besides a long hug and sitting next to me in a booth rather than across from me (which I kind of hate, but it was sweet when he did it).
d) He isn’t a big texter so he will text to make plans and he is starting to text here and there outside of that but it’s not anywhere near consistent.Soooo…he is coming to my house, and I’ve been cleaning for 2 days and bought gluten free snacks AND GF beer and ingredients for the drink he always gets (vodka tonic w/ lime) and he’s going to meet my dog.
I am so incredibly nervous and I don’t know why. I do like him though I’m not sure how compatible we are long-term…but I went out on a truly boring date this past weekend with another guy and it’s made him seem a LOT more fun in comparison, heh.
We shall see! I will give an update if y’all want it, too. 🙂
PS I love this thread! It’s so nice to know it’s not just me out there floundering around in the dating world, haha.
So the date was OK but it ended oddly and there was no kiss or discussion of what’s going on and honestly I’m just trying to sort through it all right now. Because I feel a little bit rejected so I’ll try to write more details later but it didn’t go as planned
July 29, 2015 at 11:33 pm #369747Aw, I’m sorry Veritek. I agree, let’s dissect tomorrow, if you’re up for it. We’re all supporting you!!
