Yayyy @ktfran! I’m glad things are going well!
And yeah, I blocked the creepy guy from snap chat. I have snap chat set up where only friends can send me snaps. When someone adds you, you have to approve them first. You have the option to go through your phone contacts and add people by phone number, but it doesn’t automatically add everyone. You have to deliberately click on the person and add them. So I am kind of creeped out the guy wanted to add me after 3 years considering our last communication was me saying “leave me the fuck alone. Do not contact me ever again”. All after one platonic dinner. What is wrong with people?
Over the weekend I downloaded a dating app. And I might have a date Wednesday. I still don’t feel completely ready, but I also want to get out and just talk to people again even if it doesn’t go anywhere. I might cancel though. I keep flip flopping.
That might be nice to get out, kare. Is there a reason you’re flip flopping other than not feeling ready? which, is cool if it is.
Dang, I wish now I did suggest a closer location but it’s good to know for next time. I’ve planned to go to free concert that evening though so if the date goes well, great, but if not, concert!
Just wondering, do you give cell numbers to guys you meet online before the first date? Is it a comfort level thing?
KateAugust 3, 2015 at 1:24 pm #370284@hfantods, I think best practice is to give it out right before the date like “so you have it in case you need to get in touch.” If you give it out too soon, you risk getting into a lot of texting and/or talking on the phone if he’s that kind of person, and it’s better just to meet up first and see if you like each other.
If they ask for my cell after plans have been made I’ll give it to them. Worst case scenario you can block them if it gets weird.
Also, not really relevant, but I just sold a makeup bag that my ex’s mom got for me a while back and now I’m 9 bucks richer! Woohoo! Now – what should I buy with my new sudden windfall of $9??
LooAugust 3, 2015 at 1:35 pm #370289Ok I want to chime in because I had a great weekend. I met my new guy a month ago through Tinder, and we’ve been spending a lot of time together since then.
On Saturday night we went to the symphony, which was way more fun than I was expecting. On Sunday we ended up spending the whole day together. We started with brunch, then went to the gym, then laid out by the pool, then played video games at his place, then ice cream in a cute little part of town, which led to casual shopping/browsing. Finally we went on a long walk to a yummy pizza place we discovered last week.
August 3, 2015 at 1:44 pm #370290@Loo that sounds amazing! And gives me hope about my upcoming tinder adventures (I only just joined last week because I haven’t had much luck with okcupid)
@Loo, sounds like a wonderful weekend!!
I think the last time I got a margarita was at my sister’s bachelorette just about a year ago… we were drunk by 8 pm and in bed by midnight. I kind of failed in my MOH duties but at least my sister had a good time!
