Like I actually once let my real boyfriend believe I had some kind of medical problem I didn’t want to talk about because he called me once while I was in Maine, driving home from Canada, and I foolishly picked up and couldn’t explain my whereabouts.

I’m just saying, who the heck moves to Qatar or wherever and is back home in a few weeks? With “shit going on that he can’t talk about.”

Hi Dre, I hope your coffee date goes well! I actually had a guy pop up unexpectedly recently too. We had texted a few times and had one phone call where he asked “are you a bitch like the other redheads I’ve dated?” Which flew up red flags and I ended the conversation and ignored his texts and calls. That was a month ago, never went on a date with him, thought he got the hint. Well, he didn’t and he called me again yesterday and I hadn’t saved the # so I answered and was like who is this. He said his name, I immediately hung up. THEN HE CALLED AGAIN. I ignored and blocked. What a weirdo.

In other news, I accepted a job offer yesterday for my quasi dream job and tomorrow night I have another date with new guy, so it’s an awesome week so far!

How was your date, MissDre? 🙂
My date was just ok. I wound up leaving after 1.5 hours. We met at this hip brewery bar place that’s actually really good and a nice place for a date. It was packed bc there’s a huge convention in town, but eventually we got beers and found a spot to stand. The conversation was ok, just the usual small talk about ourselves, but he was just really awkward and it felt like he had low energy. Plus I swear he kind of smelled like bbq? I really just wasn’t feeling it, and at 9pm I told him I had to get going. Overall, nice guy, just not right for me and I was over it.

@kare, awesome, I was there in June and it was fun. And agreed, ridiculously attractive people everywhere. I heard that because the population is so small and interconnected in Iceland, there’s a dating app for Icelanders that also figures out whether/how closely you’re related. When I was there, the most popular spot was this ice cream place called Valdís. That whole area was cool – it’s a bunch of converted warehouses, so kinda hipster.

I’ve also been watching all the great Northern Lights pictures coming out of Iceland recently – any chance you’re gonna see those? They’re on my bucket list.

Hey Guysssss! I don’t know what to think of my recent coffee date.

He seems incredibly quiet, soft spoken and formal. Not to the point where he had no personality or sense of humour, he was nice but he does seem fairly reserved. I’m having a hard time putting into words how I felt about it… I did enjoy meeting him and would be open to seeing him again, but I certainly didn’t feel sparks and when the coffee shop closed, I said I had to get home.

I’m curious about whether I’d like him once I get to know him better. I felt like it was hard to read his personality, and underneath he might turn out to be the sweetest guy, or he might turn out to be a weirdo.

@MissDre – that sounds exactly like how I felt about my current partner after our first date. He seemed nice, but he was quiet and hard to read, and I just didn’t feel much of a spark.
And then the next time we saw each other was for something a little more relaxed and there were so many sparks I’m surprised my house didn’t catch fire.
So it’s always worth another shot 🙂

Haha well that’s good to know. I thought he seemed sweet but I kept wondering, what would my family think of this quiet reserved person?

What would you guys recommend as a second date, since I’m on the fence about this one? I’d like to do something where I can possibly get to know him better, see who he is underneath his very quiet exterior. But not something too involved in case I decide nah, I’m not into it.
