@nickel_5 I’m sorry, that sucks. 🙁 Good for you for not putting up with wishy washy behavior, though! How were your dates?
Everyone post their dating stories, please, because I stayed out late last night (which I rarely do during the week) and I’m just dying at work this today.
Oh nickel that does suck. Sorry friend.
I haven’t had a date yet, but the new guy found out about both of his interviews and unfortunately didn’t get either of the jobs so he asked me out for tomorrow. We are meeting up for lunch and I’m excited to see him again. And tonight I’m watching horror movies and eating pizzas with two friends in honor of singles awareness weekend 🙂
@copa I had some wicked insomnia last night so I feel your pain.
February 10, 2017 at 5:20 pm #672912So my husband made plans for valentines. He never makes plans. Actually, we rarely do anything for valentines. And I’m always the one who plans anything…activities, dates, etc. So I’m excited to see what he’s come up with. It’s going to be interesting to say the least. 🙂
Veritek – too bad for the guy, but maybe good for you?
Both dates were really nice! The first was with a young professor who I met at a coffee shop that serves s’mores and gives you a tiny fire to roast them over. We had a nice conversation peppered with Arrested Development references, he was clearly nervous, and I had a nice time but didn’t necessarily feel it for a second date. The second one was a lot of fun. We met at the park, started out just relaxing on a blanket in the sun and playing with my dog, drank cheap mimosas at a nearby patio bar, and finally ended with a little making out in the parking lot when he walked me back to my car. I found him super attractive and our conversation brought up that we had a bunch of long term goals and some hobbies (a fellow long distance hiker!) in common beyond what was listed on our profiles. We made plans to meet again next week.
@nickel COFFEE SHOP SMORES?? That sounds amazing. Second guy sounds pretty cool too!
@Ranger – what plans did he make? I hope you have fun!
As for me – I got a job offer Friday night that I will probably accept this week. It would be a step up career AND pay wise, so it would be very hard to turn down!
New guy and I spent the whole day together Saturday. Lunch, shopping, movie, trampoline park and then late night drinks. It was so awesome and so good to see him again. We went to a hardware store right before the movie to buy bottles of water and ended up playing with some of the “as seen on tv” toys in one of the aisles – and we both agreed that was our favorite part of the day. Just being silly together in a hardware store!
@vertitek33 Congrats on the job offer!!! And you finally got the trampoline park date…I’d say things are good for you 🙂
I’m so behind on this thread but I read everyone’s updates and it’s fun to see your date ideas (and want to steal them). Like, I am SO doing a ramen making class and tramploine date.
Does anyone have Valentine’s Day plans? The Canadian bf is making me a three course fondue dinner (fondue nights are a big thing in his family) as I just wanted to stay in. We had an amazing time in Toronto for his birthday, are flying to Florida to visit (and me to meet!) his parents next Thursday, and are planning our trip to the UK/Greece for his graduation ceremony and vacation. So things are pretty great with me!
lucia_laFebruary 13, 2017 at 11:05 am #673077@veritek congrats on the new job and the good date!
What do people have planned for Valentine’s? I think it’s a dumb holiday but hey, I actually have someone to celebrate with this year unlike normal. Banjo and are gonna make homemade sushi together. I’ve done it just once before (with someone who knew what they were doing) so it’ll be a bit of an adventure but should be fun! I’m excited. I also have some red lingerie I never wear so I just might have to bring that out.
@veritek – CONGRATS on the job offer! And yay for a great date! There’s a gigantic mall near my parents’ house with mostly outlet stores, and they also have an As Seen On TV Store and I could spend hours there.
I have no Valentine’s Day plans. I’ve been fostering a dog and he’s being adopted on Wednesday, so tomorrow he will be my little Valentine and on Wednesday I am banking on crying when he goes home with his new mom, so I’ll take advantage of discounted Valentine’s Day candy when I decide to eat my feelings. Haha.
February 13, 2017 at 12:10 pm #673096@veritek – Yes, congrats on the job! That’s exciting! Hope things keep going well with the guy too!
I too generally thing Valentines is kind of dumb. I did like it in grade school, trading cards and such plus candy! I’m pretty sure my husband just planned dinner but it’s the fact that he took charge and planned it at all is why i’m excited.
@Copa – that’s exciting and sad all at the same time, fostering a dog. I don’t think I have the guts to do that because I know I’d get to attached and want to keep them all. We already have two dogs, which is just the right number. I think your awesome to be able to do that!
@kt – That’s awesome to get to go to Greece! I hope you have a marvelous time! Also, good luck meeting the parents 🙂
KFebruary 13, 2017 at 12:16 pm #673099Congrats on the job @veritek33! My boyfriend works in the city and doesn’t get home until almost 9:30 each night. I’ll probably cook something, but we won’t be eating together (I need to eat dinner by like 6 pm or else I get hangry!). I’d like to make something special but I’m not sure what. Or maybe I’ll get pizza from our favorite pizza place, that would be easier, haha. We just had our 3 year anniversary, and V-day and his birthday fall within 3 weeks after that, so we usually end up doing low key stuff for V-day.
Congrats on the job, Ver!
These dates/trips/foster dogs all sound great, everyone!
I’m also not a big Valentine’s Day person. So Galentine’s Day this year, me and a friend are going to a free reception at a nearby conference – I’m hoping for wine and yummy appetizers. Husband will be home studying, so maybe I’ll bring him chocolate or something…
