Hello from Scotland, everyone!! I’ve been in Glasgow, Edinburgh and took a tour of the lower Scottish Highlands. My feet and my calves are KILLING me from all the walking and touring I’ve been doing. Today is my last day… I’m SO sad to be going home tomorrow morning. But… I’m coming back at the end of May 🙂
I hope you’ve all had a fantastic Easter weekend. I’ll catch up on this thread when I get back to Canada.
PS… guess who officially has a boyfriend 😛 LoL!!
yay Copa and Dre!! That’s wonderful news from both!!
My dad is doing a thousand times better (still in hospital but hopefully coming home tomorrow!) So I was able to sneak away for a date last night. Just beers at a local bar but it was nice! It was the guy from last summer and he really is fun to hang out with like I remembered. He’s already asked me out again and I said I’d like to do that. Not much to report but three hours of awesome convo and good beers!
OMG Taco Guy can cook too? Positive vibes for sure!! And I’ve always wanted to do the river kayaking (and enjoy a good workout) so definitely going to look into it when I’m back from Greece!
MissDre I may have squealed a litte bit, congrats!
Nothing new over here, just getting ready to head to my cousin’s wedding this Friday on the East coast. My bf will be meeting my family for the first time so I’m pretty excited (my mom is already prepared to adore him). My dad and one of my brothers can’t make it, but he’ll be meeting some aunts and cousins he would never get to meet otherwise since my whole family is very spread out and doesn’t really get together for the holidays anymore.
We did get into a pretty big fight as he came over and I had just finished a 13 hour work day during a super busy week and my kitchen was atrocious. I am just not a great housekeeper when work gets crazy, and when I live alone my tolerance is very high for mess. He came over and was really upset (dirty kitchens “stress him out”) and said some comments that implied that it could be a problem for our future together since he is fussy about the kitchen. I was angry as his timing and approach were terrible and it made me feel judged and pissy when I was totally worn out. I told him that should we live together at some point, I would be more on top of things and hire a maid as I did in my last relationship (current bf and I can more than afford it but he was not into that idea). And for the time being I’d be more on top of it or we could hang at his place when I wasn’t, but it wasn’t fair to make me feel like he’s expecting me to be perfect, when I’m pretty lenient about him forgetting to do things that I’ve asked several times (e.g. buy new laundry detergent as the new one he uses I am allergic to). He said I am mean when I fight (I don’t yell, call names, etc. but I do point out where he’s wrong and patterns I see, which he doesn’t like). Thankfully we rarely fight and when we do, we come out of it feeling like we understand each other better/have resolved things but man, honeymoon period is over lol.
All I wanted on Saturday was to be, y’know, some cute National Geographic-worthy kayak babe. The wind had other plans. There were some points on the tour where if you stopped paddling, the wind pushed you backwards. The tour guide took a photo of every group on the tour with his phone when we got to the main branch of the river downtown, and was planning to text them to everyone after… and then he dropped his phone in the river. Taco Guy commented on our way back to his place that he was a little sad about it, because he really did want a copy. And maybe that has nothing to do with me, but it was nice to hear. So far so good, but I was catching up with a good friend last night and told her about Taco Guy, and ended with, “Yep, but I still think I’m going to get ghosted sooner or later.”
@MissDre That’s a great update so far! I’m excited to hear more about your European vacation when you’re back!@Veritek Glad you got a break from the hospital, and that your date went well! Are you planning to give him another shot/see where things go this time?
@Kmtthat I don’t blame you for feeling judged! I’d be pretty upset if a boyfriend picked a fight over my mess when we don’t live together. (I don’t think they should be affected.) I live alone, and between work and life, I find staying on top of my chores difficult — and that’s not even when work is particularly stressful.
KApril 17, 2017 at 9:58 am #682278@Copa Kayaking can be so crazy with the wind sometimes – once I went kayaking on the Hudson River with my best friend and the wind was pushing us backwards, and then we were laughing so that made it even harder to paddle. My boyfriend was getting worried because we took so long to get back, due to the wind. A kayaking architecture tour sounds amazing! It’s just about warm enough to kayak here now, I can’t wait.
lucia_laApril 17, 2017 at 11:12 am #682297I went on a kayaking tour around Dubrovnik last summer (Wait… two summers ago?) that was pretty cool and included a stop for cliff jumping! I’m scared of heights but made myself do it and it was pretty fun.
Easter weekend did turn out to be shit weather, but it was okay enough on Saturday that Banjo and I went on a bike trip for the day. We biked 58 km (~36 miles) to a town outside the city, passing through lots of pretty country side and several chateaus. We ended up in a cute little town near the German boarder that’s known for wine making and has some sights like a church decorated with human bones left over from a plague. So we did a little bit of sightseeing and had some delicious dinner and then took the train back. Sunday Banjo and I cooked together and brought food over to a friend’s for brunch, and the six of us ended up hanging out, eating, drinking, playing board games and watching movies all day long. Today was raining and cold, so we kinda lazed around and didn’t really do much. But all in all, a nice Easter weekend!
@MissDre I’m really happy for you. I know I’m just a stranger on the internet but I actually felt happy over your news. Congrats.
@kmentthat It’s so sad when you realize the honeymoon period is over. But also you feel like you are closer and you have history and you know more about this person. Reminds me of an episode in Friends. But he was terrible in his timing. My boyfriend tends to do that -.-
April 17, 2017 at 11:18 am #682299@lucia_lc, which kayaking company did you use? i’m going in a month and that was one of the things I wanted to do
MISSDRE GET IT GUUUUURRRRLLLLLl
Waaaaaait, he’s “fussy about the kitchen,” this could be “a problem for your future together,” yet he’s not ok with a cleaning service. And he laid this on you after a 13-hour day. And you promised to do better, in your own home. That’s, whoa. Personally if I were him, I would just start doing some of the dishes to help you out during your shitty week. This is not a good look for him.
April 17, 2017 at 7:39 pm #682372What Kate said — after you’ve endured a hard week and a 13 hour day, that’s when a decent boyfriend grabs the Palmolive and the scrubber and pitches in a little bit. Stack the dishwasher, at least. NOT get on your case about your own home. WTF?!!
