I do like guys who have nerdy sides to them. Even the ones I’ve dated who have been more, like, the suave kind of guys have had serious nerd sides. Well-rounded is ideal. The software engineers I mentioned who are into the strategy games? That particular group plays those games every single Saturday for hours and hours. It’s not that I have anything against games, it’s just I can’t imagine dating someone who wanted to do *only* that *every* Saturday night.
TheHizzyOctober 25, 2017 at 8:17 am #725092I have my first therapy appointment today. Positive vibes on things I can do to get rid of my fucking leg pain. So much better than the pain in my back 😉
I returned to my gym last night to start coaching again to save my sanity. It was good. Nice to see friendly faces. It’s hard to not want to demo things for people. Here’s to staying strong to PT requirements for another 23 days + 6 more weeks of lighter restrictions!
@TheHizzy Glad you’re well enough to be out and about and getting back into your normal routine, and I hope you’re not in too much pain! I’ve only had to go to physical therapy for an injury once, but I actually really liked my therapist and the experience I had there.
@TheHizzy: Good luck. My mom was really afraid of PT after a knee surgery, but she said it was soooooo helpful and not nearly as bad as she had feared.
Re lawyers: I’m also a lawyer. (So is my husband, but we met before law school.) But, based on what I encounter on a daily basis, if I were single, I’d run from most male lawyers. It’s a profession that just attracts (or breeds, maybe both?) know-it-all assholes.
Everyone else, I’m an old married lady, who hasn’t been on a first date in, like nearly two decades (gawd) but I really enjoy this thread. I can’t believe it’s nearly two years old! Sorry I don’t really have much to contribute except internet moral support.
Oh, god, it definitely seems nuts! 🙂 But, I love looking through my single friends’ dating apps, too. Mostly it just seems really impersonal to me, like shopping for a dress or something, except you’re “shopping” for a person, which is weird, but probably only because I never did it.
I admire you ladies for slogging through the shit, for sure. I’m not sure I would have the fortitude to deal with it!
MissMJ – My old boss used to refer to Tinder and Bumble as “the man store” and ask me if I’d done any shopping lately lol.
In other news, I’ve had strep throat all week, went to urgent care on Sunday morning and they told me tested negative but they’d run it again just to be sure. Called today to tell me it came in positive and finally prescribed me an antibiotic. I’ve felt like death all week so this is good because the new guy and I have a trip this weekend!
He’s an engineer, btw, and fits into a lot of the stereo types. But we are meeting in local wine country and having our first full night/weekend together without either of us having plans the next day. I’m glad I’ll be healthier and non contagious by then!
@Ver, hope you feel better soon! Strep throat sounds awful. Have fun on your trip!
Re lawyers, my friend just asked me over the weekend if I’d go out with a lawyer (I’m a lawyer too). I started off by saying it’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s not a plus, and then I realized I do swipe left on a lot of lawyers, HA.
I’m a little nervous about this cottage weekend with M.G. I’m afraid it’s too soon after two months, but I’d rather not miss a weekend of seeing him. It’s really my friend’s husband’s friends and there are 16 (!) of us total. There are a couple of my friends and I’ve met a few of his friends so I’ll know 7 people there. So it’s not a trip trip, just a big group of people hanging out?
Overall it should be a lot of fun and chill weekend, but I’m definitely overpacking because I don’t know what to wear and want to be cute, etc. M.G. also asked me this week if I wanted to go to his friend’s birthday dinner after the cottage on Sunday, but no pressure. I did want to say no because I know I will be tired but because M.G. was spending a weekend with my friends, I said yes. It’ll be fine, just a long day 🙂
lucia_laOctober 27, 2017 at 2:01 am #725260Last night was unseasonably warm for October and Banjo asked me to go for a walk in our favorite park. It was a nice romantic night and… I finally told him I love him. He said it back! And now I dunno why I waited so long haha.
Later on we also talked more about living together. I told him that to me it’s not just for convenience or saving on rent. He agreed and said it’s a big step. We also agreed that we’re serious about each other and our relationship and we see a future together. He said he thought I already knew he was serious about me (which mean, I did – we’re taking a big trip home over the holidays and spending ten days with his family and then ten days with mine, and we have talked before–albeit vaguely–about where we might move if we get tired of our current city, and we spend Fri-Sun together every week, etc.). But, it is nice to communicate and spell it all out.
So plus one for communication! And thanks lovely commenters for the kick in the pants that pushed me to have the talk (that I knew I needed to have but was procrastinating on!)
October 27, 2017 at 7:49 am #725275@lucia_la yay! You did it! Well definitely cleared the air on a lot of your, and albeit our, concerns that it hadn’t been said yet. I would probably be in the same boat as you though, always an anxiety inducing time when I have to say that phrase to anyone new, outside family and friends.
Does anyone have any halloween plans this weekend?! Saturday I am going to the orchestra in the evening, then afterwards going to my friends Halloween party with M (my guy). We are doing a big brunch the next morning, shooting in the aft, and a scream fest downtown, which has the stadium turned into a big haunted house apparently. Gonna be ‘wicked’ 😉
